All Pond Solutions EF External Filter Booster Supplimentary Canister, 1.2 Litre

Bought this as a pre filter for a UV clarifier. Easy to fit and adjust the flow to suit the UV filter. It's all working very well in my small pond set up, very pleased.

I have attached this to my larger canister filter, to stop the large one getting to clogged up its easy to use and I think for a smaller tank would be enough I just wanted to save lugging the bigger filter about too often , time will tell but from doing some research on pondguru videos send it should be a great bit of kit !

So now I have two of these and theyre just a huge time saver and incredibly effective I have one attached to a aps 2000ef one to a 1000ef. The idea is actually brilliant, i dreaded cleaning out my canisters usually once every 2 months but it's been 8 months and my canister is still clean removing all hassle from tank maintenance. The two taps on the booster make maintenance really easy and it traps all heavy muck leaving my expensive filter media with clean water for super effective filtration I have noticed a drop in ammonia and nitrates since using these in 2 heavily sticked goldfish tanks the ultimate filter test is goldfish! They are quite fiddly to attach hoses too takes around 20 minutes and a sharp knife but the time saved long term and the obvious benefits in filtration and water quality far outweigh the set up time. Highly recommended brilliant idea and an excellent product.

I have been running this for a few months now so thought I'd give a quick review. I have this as a pre filter for my JBL Cristiprofile E1501, which I have packed with biological media. This runs alongside my Fluval FX4 on a 450litre planted tank. As with most of APS items I was expecting a relatively cheap product (you get what you pay for right?) But much to my surprise this is quite well made. It comes with three different sponges, ranging from course to fine, with the water flowing from bottom to top I start with a course through to fine to polish the water off before it enters the canister filter. It is not see through like the image suggests, which is fine, I just disconnect weekly and give it a good clean with a tap, as it's only acting as a dirt remover I'm not fussed on affects on bacteria. It does the job at removing grime from the water, without any significant loss in flow when using a relatively powerful filter. It is easy to disconnect and clean regularly and I'm happy with the sponges provided. In summary, for the price it's a great way to negate the need to keep cleaning your canister filter and enabling you to use that solely for biological filtration, leaving this to do all your mechanical beforehand. 2020 update: So, still going, although affectively just a box with filter sponges! Only criticism is that the clips holding the lid on are particularly brittle, I've managed to snap 3/4 clips and have now resorted to cable ties. Bizarrely it's £10 for just 1 clip on the APS website! Yes, 1 clip is a tenner! The unit only costs £20! Just for that I've knocked a star off. Anyway, works well and as expected, you will need to clean once every week or two depending on your stocking levels.

Doesn't come with a hosepipe so have to spend more money trying to get one.

This pre filter was easy to install and set up. I used an off cut of pipe from my original filter to connect. Keeps your main filter clean and give more room for biological media. My only criticism is the pipes are quick release but do have taps. Do you can't remove it to clean/empty.

Wouldnt give it 1 star, Worst product I have bought for my fish tank, every part leaked, original pipework didn't fit, shut off valves leaked bought pipe to fit, the pipe didn't fit the all pond solutions 1000ef, total waste of money
