Rustins Chalky Finish Paint Georgian Grey 250ml

Having used the more expensive brand over the years I took a punt on this, and it’s brilliant! Same ease of application and same finish. Only needed one coat for the project I was doing and a little goes a long way. Off to see what else I can paint now!

I needed to paint some cabinets in the bath. One of them had a dark waterstain because of the trajectory of the shower water at one point (that has since been fixed). Having used Chalk Paint before, and needing to do this project quickly, I purchased Rustin’s Windsor White Chalk Paint in a 250ml Size because it was next day delivery. I had previously only used that very famous (and very expensive) chalk paint on other projects and I found it had been difficult to manoeuvre as it was too thick. (Often I had to thin that paint and did not get it quite right). I received the Rustin paint and because I had no paint stirrer, I gave the can a good shaking before opening it (and holding it firmly with my fingers on the lid!) I shook it for about 45 seconds. I opened the paint and armed with Harris Easy Paint brushes (see my review of those) I got to work! I was amazed at how easy it was to drag the brush, how the consistency was just right (not too thick, not too thin) and how quickly I finished the main job. I put extra paint on the stain and it all but disappeared. The coverage was top notch! I was so gobsmacked with how nice the paint job turned out, I decided to pain other areas that needing tending. It was actually a joy to do this project. Clean up was done in a flash too with water and a tiny bit of liquid soap. Easy peasy from start to finish and the price was reasonable. It also ran circles around that “other famous chalk paint”. Love, love, love this paint!

I bought this paint because I needed chalk paint to get a shabby chic distressed finish. It is chalky effect, not actual chalk paint. It is easy to apply, I used a foam brush on a wood candle holder. It goes on beautifully and dries quickly. Left it overnight thinking I would lightly sand away the areas I want distressing. It is so hard it needs a good dose of elbow grease with wire wool to even scrape the surface! I have given 4 stars because I LOVE this paint and it would have been 5 stars if I was using it on furniture and wanted a flat finish. It is beautiful ans washable. It has wax added so no need to finish. I have accidentally found the perfect paint for future furniture projects.

Used this paint to upcycle my console table. Covers very well and leaves a lovely Matt finish. Very low odour from the paint. I have also used their radiator paint which is also very good

Though it looks green in the listing it is more of a duck egg blue and nothing like a sage green. I can’t comment on the actual paint as I couldn’t get over the disappointment of the colour. Therefore didn’t use more than a brush full to do a patch test.

I love this paint. It's so easy to paint with, it really covers and goes on beautifully! The tin is small, but it covered 4 dining chairs plus the top of a dining table. So goes far for the amount in the tin and I did buy a second tin to finish the table. Lovely finish, very flat matt. It dries so quickly too, by the time I had finished painting the chairs the first one was touch dry and ready for another coat. Will definitely buy again!

This is by far the BEST cream shabby chic paint I've ever used excellent Finnish does not look dry or flaky very very impressed, I would certainly highly recommend this product
