Functionally Useless
UPDATE: I figured out the issue with the jaws clamping. The upper hinge pins are loose in the holes. (These things WILL fall out eventually.) So if they slide too far into their hidey holes, they will obstruct the clamping lever. I'm going to try to find a way to fix this. The ability to rotate the thing 360 degrees has turned into a curse. The nut that locks the rotation isn't all that reliable. So if your leather is giving you any problems at all, it will just work itself loose and the thing is spinning freely.I would still avoid unless you want to make some modifications/repairs. It has a nice, small form-factor, but there are some pretty glaring design issues.I was pretty happy to receive this, as I'm in pretty dire straits for a pony at the moment. Unfortunately, this device will not do what I need it to do based on my understanding of how it works.Build quality is... fine. It *APPEARS* to be several layers of basswood laminated together and then cut into shape, which is whatever, the thing isn't made for any serious torque. The clamp that secures it to the work surface seems to be okay. That's where it stops being passable. The jaws hold nothing. I put a piece of scrap leather in it, "locked it in" and tapped the piece of leather. The jaws fell open and the leather fell out. While I was messing with it trying to figure out if I was doing something wrong, one of the hinge pins fell out and the other one was trying to evacuate. I don't want to put too much tension on the retainer handle because I know with 100% certainty that SOMETHING will break.I haven't decided if I'm going to return it. It can be made to work, but it's going to require some modifications that make that whole quick-release trigger pointless. On the other hand, it is one of the more expensive sub-$100 pieces, so I may return it based on that alone. We'll see.

Very disappointed
For the price this was very small, and ive had to repair it multipule times, it should also come with some kind of sleeves over thetips to protect the item or possibly leather glued to the inside of the tips to make it easier to hold..the pins have also fallen out of the bottom of the "jaws" it also does not hold the items strong enough . Way to expensive for the money..
