For ten dollars you get a lot of science.
I thought this was a great value proposition. Only $10 for a simple kit to help teach your child the scientific method. On the other hand, once the experiments are done you pretty much are just left with a hard plastic tube –so there isn’t much replay value, but if you do it right that money will be well spent.I recommend 3 things to get the most out of this set:1) Go to the store BEFORE opening the set and buy the required ingredients (if needed). Yes the set comes with some ingredients (like citric acid and fizzy tablets) but you actually need to provide most of the other ingredients. This was slightly annoying but I get it. The kit would cost twice as much if it had to provide separate containers with each of the ingredients. Plus, I found it actually kind of fun taking my son to the store and having us both shop for the ingredients together, and discussing what each ingredient was and how it was typically used.2) Make sure you do the experiments in an open area that is prepped for messes. Since you can expect to get foaming solution outside of the test tube I recommend performing the experiments on a hard plastic surface. (In my case I did the experiments on a flattened out garbage bag to catch any leftover liquids.)3) Adult supervision. My child is on the younger side so I found a lot of value in going through the experiments slowly with him and asking him what he thought would happen (beforehand) and what happened (afterwards) with a discussion of why it happened (thanks Google for most of those I didn’t know!)There are only five experiments so you can really go through them pretty quickly, which is why I recommend taking them slowly to focus on the causes and effects of each one.In this day and age educational AND entertaining “Toys” are a godsend. I am happy with this set. (Just don’t expect to leave the kid to his or her own devices to handle this all on their own.)

Grandson Loves It!
Given the price point, this is a great kit for engaging children with science experiments. The kit uses household ingredients to create different chemical reactions, and, also contains the ingredients you need to to perform the experiments. This is a pretty great kit which lets adults or older children also get involved with the kids, as, depending on the age of the child, more or less adult supervision will be required. My grandson is 10, and I wasn't sure if he was going to like this. I was worried he would think it was too "childish". It turns out my fears were unfounded! He loves it.The instructions give you details on how to perform 5 experiments, but, you can certainly get on the web and find more to expand the play/learning experience. This kit doesn't contain anything unique, it just combines (mostly) common household items together with the instructions in a convenient package. The experiments are fun, if not complex. And, as long as an adult is supervising, you can certainly involve younger children (ages 7 and below) in the process, too. As long as you understand that this is a learning toy that is going to involve your time, as a parent, this is a great way to engage your children in an endeavor that does not involve wiggling their thumbs while they are holding a game controller. That makes it a definite winner in this grandmother's toy arsenal. Have fun!

Not a bad way to spend a Hamilton - but not much longevity.
This isn't the best science kit on the market. It requires you to have many ingredients to actually do the science part (many of which are general household items...of course, depending on your household.) But more than that - it's really a one-and-one kind of thing. This isn't something that you'll do a few experiments, and keep some of the parts, get more science kits, and build on your various science/lab supplies. It's a quick and fun thing to do...and then it's over. Not a terrible thing - for ten bucks (current price), it's probably a better value than going to the movies, for example. The experiments aren't bad - kind of fun, with good explanations. And for the price, it's a reasonable value - I just feel that it could have been more.

small science project.
This was very hard to say okay too. I liked the packaging.I find this very simplistic and yes they could not have placed some more of the ingredients in the packets needed for their ideas. They could have placed a stir stick, measuring spoons and even food coloring. That way you could do some of the tasks. Some people do not drink pop so an alternative would have been nice, like raisins instead of noodles. I just feel this was emptier than expected. The instructions were cool though because it did explain why it was doing that. But since I was not able to do all the tasks, I will wait to do them and update this review.I received this for my honest opinion and was not compensated.

Requires a lot of additional items
My 10yr old loves science kits so I was excited about this one. One of my pet peeves is getting sets like this one only to realize you don't have the ingredients necessary to actually do any of the activities....like what happened with this one. I would be willing to spend more to know that it was going to come with everything necessary to do the activities (minus water, obviously). We found it to be a kit that you do once and are done with it. We never did get the needed ingredients to finish the projects. I'd suggest looking for other, more complete, options.
