MasterClass KCMCHB12 20cm Loose Based Sandwich Tin with PFOA Non Stick, Robust 1mm Thick Carbon Steel, 8 Inch Round Cake Pan, Grey

Another lovely baking tin from Masterclass. I now have 4 different Masterclass baking tins. They are definitely my go to manufacturer for baking tray items. This is a 20cm/8 inch round tin, with a removable bottom (Photo). 2 of these are what you want for making a perfect sandwich cake, such as a Victoria sponge. The tin itself is well made. It weighs in at 400 grams, so has a bit of weight to it. It's made from 2 different thicknesses of steel. With the sides being made from 0.6mm steel, and the base from a more hefty 1mm thick steel. That may not sound that thick, but it is more than adequate for this type of baking tin. There is zero flex in the tin. It has a depth of 3.5 cm. Perfect for one half of a sandwich cake, but equally great for pies and flans. It makes a perfect lemon meringue pie. These type of removable bottom tins, are, in effect 'sealed'. The bottom makes an extremely good fit with the lip of the base. If you fill it with water, there will be some slight dripping, but with a cake mix, it is practically sealed and drip proof. Although, as I'm cautious by nature, it would probably be best to line with parchment/greaseproof paper, if you had a very thin and runny mix. The tin does have a non-stick coating, although I always give it a wipe around with an oil before pouring in the mix. As you can see from the photo, the whole bottom lifts out, so removing the cake is very easy. Once cool, just push your hand up through the middle, or, if the sides are a little sticky, place the baking tray onto a food tin, and gently work the sides off. Overall, this is another well made Masterclass baking tin, that is a great and useful addition to any collection. I hope you found this review helpful.

I bought three of these at the very last minute to finish off a rainbow layered birthday cake. I had cake tins of various styles which gave me different results. The best bake was from a springform Masterclass tin so I trusted this brand to give the results I wanted. I looked at other brands but they were double the price. This cake tin is very sturdy, and gave me great resutls. The sponge cakes came out easily (I lined the base and greased the sides) and they were quick and easy to clean. They do say it is dishwasher safe but I prefer to hand wash items with a non-stick coating rather than risk damaging it. Plus these clean so easily! Overall, very happy with these and will be throwing my other cake tins away now.

Good size, well made and definitely non stick. Tricky to remove from the oven when hot as you have to be careful not to push the base up. Need to use baking paper to prevent butter leaking onto the oven floor, which kind of defeats the convenience of non-stick.

This is a good size pan for small families made of a sturdy non stick metal very good quality would purchase this brand again

I looked around for a long time for some really decent loose based sandwich pans before buying these. I've used them for several weeks; they are superb and are likely to last a VERY long time. They are of a heavy gauge and will not warp in the oven - highly durable. They do not leak at all in my experience. The sides of the pans are a good height too - unlike some inferior brands. This was my first Master Class purchase but in future, this is a brand I would seek out. Being a bit of a novice cake maker, I trawled the web for best advice as to whether to grease the tin or what. The experts seem to favour either greasing or, as I do, using baking parchment - even if the product states it's non-stick. I tried putting these in the top shelf of a dishwasher without occasioning any apparent harm and seem to recall the packaging indicated this was feasible. However, after having read the reviews here, from now on I'll avoid the dishwasher just in case - would be lost without these sandwich pans!

As usual excellent quality item from masterclass. Heavy and durable. Expect it to last years. I'm a big fan of this brand. Have many masterclass baking tins and roasting trays.

Bought for wife to cook me cakes, no tins no cake she only had one the right size for Victoria sponge but needed extra tins for top and bottom so now got spare just in case she throws one at me for suggesting a cake for tea 😁😁
