Interlogix 600-1054-95R-16 Simon XTi-5 Wireless Alarm Security Panel with Transformer; Color LCD Touchscreen; One Master Access Code and 8 Programmable User Access Codes of 3 to 6 Digits

This is a nice upgrade from Simon XT, better interface, easy to install, and have the system learn the sensors. However, it failed to pick up the sensors in the basement, that had previously been seen by my XT. The XTi-5 will discover(learn) them, but just won't reliably announce them (non alarm mode) or set off the alarm. Tried everything I could think of; replaced batteries, moved sensor, replaced sensor with a new one, and still no luck. Finally got a RE524X repeater, that seems to help, but it still isn't perfect/totally reliable. There may be some antenna out there that solves my problem, but the only antenna I have found works with the optional wireless communication board that will call a security system. Also, I can't find any outdoor sensors that work with the XTi-5, although doubt it would with an outdoor sensor, if it can't find sensors in my basement.

Definitely an upgrade from the non-touch screen, previous editions of the Simon XT - much easier and faster to program. Also shows you zone status with just one touch (eg; click on 'Doors' or 'Windows' icons and see when there was last motion and/or which doors are open). Only bummer is the screen doesn't go totally dark when you set it to 'blank' - the screen effectively goes 'black' but doesn't turn off, and there's light emitted around the edges.

Had the old version with the keypad, this touch screen is very similar in design and operation to the wireless lcd touchpad (an accessory for the Simon XT). Installed fast and easy without a hitch and all of my sensors that worked on the old panel worked perfectly with the new one. Added bonus - was much easier to program, more intuitive with the visual controls and worked fine with my magic jack for reporting (calling out).

Glad I went with the Interlogix solution. This main panel combined with two remote panels and a house-full of sensors has proven to be very reliable and exactly what I needed. Love the voice-enunciated "chime" feature so I know without looking at the panels which sensor was triggered. Works great with my existing monitoring service.

This alarm panel is so much easier to program than the XT model I had. It's power and telephone connectors is also laid out more logically thanon the XT. I highly recommend it as a upgrade
