Practically perfect
After extensive (well, pretty much!)searching online, this CH products yoke was one of two that I could find for purchase. The other one, however, was only for sale for time to time on some corner of eBay, and did not look like the kind of reliable thing that I wanted to supplement my real-life flying with. So, I bought this one. I found immediately that it had a nice range of movement, and a well chosen weight behind the movement - you don't want to inadvertantly flick your nose over your head during the landing flare, as is possible on lighter controllers! It gives a satisfying feeling during the flying, and feels a lot more authentic than the joystick I previously used to use. It comes with quite a few buttons for the hands when on the yoke - more than enough to personalise your shortcuts with, a view-hat switch (which lets you look around the cockpit with ease), a vertical trim rocker switch (very useful!) and a rudder trim rocker switch. There are also two push up or down buttons, which I use for flaps and landing gear, and of course the throttle, prop and mixture levers. These were firm to the grip, nice and chunky, and smooth without being too smooth to handle. The yoke comes with two adjustable clips, for want of a better word, intended for attaching the yoke to the table. Unfortunately this system didn't really work out so well, with the yoke rocking when I pushed it forward or pulled it back, but wedging a mousemat under the back solved this fine. Needless to say, all that was needed was to plug the cable into the USB port, and within seconds it was recognised by Flight Simulator, no calibration needed. Coupled with the pedals, this made for a great transformation of the Flight Simulator experience. There could have been a few improvements, such as a better attachment system to the worktop, but as it is it's brilliant, and I highly recommend it.

a must if you are serious
...about your flying. If you want to simulate your flights properly, if you are a student pilot and want to do some "homework" on the sim at home, you simply have to get these. They are very well built and work very well. No problems with them at all. The only thing I have not liked too much is that they tend, ever so slightly, to "snap" into neutral position as you approach the centre. Otherwise they are very robust and precise. Expensive? Yes, I think they are very expensive for what they are, all ch products are. But I have used their pro throttle, Fighterstick and pedals every single day for over a year and they are performing exactly as new. Which is not what I can say about other flight controllers I have owned. For example Saitek. Admittedly much cheaper, but after a few months started to lose performance, and were soon useless. So i'd rather pay more for CH products.

Up and away
I use Flight Simulator X with glider and aerobatic aircraft addons. I had previously purchased CH joystick and Pro pedals and wanted a HOTAS type throttle to complement my set up. I also run 3D and use earbuds. CH installation on Windows 7 64 bit was a 1 2 3 affair. I followed the steps, ran through the CH calibration and the gear is working great. I am finding that the more I use the CH gear, the more I like it, it feels solid and very positive in use. I use Freetrack for head tracking so the hat type switches have not found a good use yet but it is early days after all. Currently I am flying a lot of circuits and practicing simple aerobatic maneouvres and sitting in front of my screen with joystick in one hand, throttle in the other and feet on the pedals is so much more immersive than flying with just a joystick. An excellent product.

Build quality great, wish it had an led to power and working, red for power green led for working
-1 star for demonic usb drivers are flaky even on windows 7, the build quality is great, wish it had an led so i could confirm it getting power, had to delete the ch management software and reinstall it for it to work again, programming this beast isnt pretty but allows you to assign keyboard commands to it, so in rainbow 6 i can use it for prone and stealth by assigning / [ to prone and stealth binds, l ove this here is the code i used use the wizard to create a pedal profile, add CMS controls, click on b127 = [ and b128= / assign keys on programmed function click on script editor ... add the following script... script If([JS1.A1 > 50] or [JS1.A2 > 50]) THEN // pedals pressed CMS.B128 = true; ELSE CMS.B128 = false; ENDIF If([JS1.A3 < 50]) THEN // pedals pressed CMS.B127 = true; ELSE CMS.B127 = false; ENDIF endScript check script download script into pedals using download command. imho its worth the hassle to gain foot controls.
