The remote control is just a volume knob on the end of a wire, so that you can adjust the output of the sub from the drivers seat. You can turn the sub down, but not off. However If you have an after market head unit it will have a blue wire coming from the wiring harness that you can join to the blue wire from the sub. This automatically turns the sub on and off when the head unit is turned on and off. If you are using the existing head unit it probably won't have the blue remote wire but you can put a toggle switch on the blue wire from the sub to use as an on/off switch. However if the sub is wired up correctly it will automatically turn on when the head unit is turned on, and will shut down when it is turned off. There
