Reliable Charger for MacBook Air
The Apple 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter is a perfect fit for my MacBook Air. The magnetic connector is secure yet easy to disconnect, and it charges quickly without overheating. The compact design with foldable prongs is great for travel, and the LED indicator is a helpful touch. While it's pricier than third-party options, the quality and compatibility are worth it. The cable feels a bit fragile, so handle with care. Overall, a reliable, well-designed charger for Apple users.

Even with the higher price of an Apple-branded product, I think it's worth it for the reliability.
With accessories that plug into high-price equipment, I usually like to go with parts from the original manufacturer. I know you can buy knock-offs that probably work just as well to power my MacBook Air, but I feel more comfortable paying the Apple Tax for the surety of mind that it will work, it won't break, and it won't fry my laptop. So the stars are overall 5 because it's a solid product. Three stars because Apple always charges more than they need to do, because they can (suckers like me keep shelling out). It's small and lightweight enough that I travel with it in my briefcase all of the time, including the extension cord that comes with it. I would love it if they shaved off an ounce or two, so 4 stars for traveling. I've probably had a dozen or 15 of these chargers for various MacBooks over the years. Only one has ever broken, and that was one that I travel with so it go the most wear. This one hasn't broken yet, so 5 stars for durability. The others are scattered around my house so I always have a power source nearby.

I got the real deal.
First, for what it's worth - I received a genuine Apple-made product. I know buying these kind of things on Amazon can get a little dicey, what with the fear (and justified fear, I believe) of getting counterfeit goods. Well, in my case I needn't have worried - I received a brand new Apple product in a shrink wrapped Apple box. No issues. This is a replacement item to get some work equipment up and running. On balance I like the adapter, but I don't LOVE it like I do the original MagSafe. The issue is twofold. First, the cords seem a little, I don't know, less supple than the original MagSafe, which impacts durability. Indeed, the adapter this is replacing (same model) has only three years on it...and I think for a laptop, you really want to have bulletproof adapters. Second issue is the plug - the original MagSafe was cylindrical and I think had a better fit. This one is rectangular and has a shorter "handle" on it, so unplugging it is to court disaster. The natural urge is to just grab the cable and pull, but you must resist this urge. Instead grab the rectangular bit and tilt it out. Doing this, while kind of a pain, helps preserve the cable connections in the plug and keeps the adapter running as long as possible. So as I said, overall this is a decent adapter, provided you do your part and exercise care when using it. I'm happy I didn't get a used or counterfeit product here.

Re "is it a knockoff"?
I hesitated to purchase this as there seems to be a controversy re it's authenticity. I just got this today and having had experience with Apple cables since the very first Mac I've gotta say that if this isn't authentic I'll eat my hat. And either new or returned unopened. Brand new Apple packaging down to the tiny plastic pin cap. Apple computer cables are notoriously hateful - the connecting cable is too thin and just wears out eventually (soldered my last one) but the casing finally always starts deteriorating eventually, so 'connecting cord is flimsy' is a given. But I've tried the generic ones but dollar for dollar might as well spring for the real thing - those knckoffs were all VERY obviously not Apple, really crappy, even the more expensive ones, and all went wrong within a year This one works fine on my 2017 Air., as it should If there are problems in the future I'll edit this and eat my hat also. Dunno what's going on with this seller that some people got non-Apple packaging, and the inconsistency if true is very not cool, but there's my review, anyway. Nice to get it a little bit cheaper.

Definitely Worth the Price
The connector prongs on my Macbook power charger became loose so I ordered a new one to replace it. Well, instead of getting one product, I feel like I got two. Not only did I get the power charger to replace the old one, I got a second power charger. This one is simply a power cable with an AC connector on one end which connects directly to the wall and on the other end is the magnetic connector for the laptop. This gives me two power chargers set up in my two most frequently used rooms. Now I just need to move the laptop, not the power adapters, to connect/disconnect the old adapter (putting stress on the prongs) when moving to the other room. Now I have Mac power in both places and this is a win-win situation for me.
