Brilliant! Clear water at last
Plumbed this in at the start of the season, having tried a number of other "solutions" over about 2 or 3 years and never having had clear water. Density of fish not too high, but even so, we just couldn't get clear water. This product changed all that. It took about 3 weeks, but even the sediment at the bottom of the pond was eventually removed - I suppose the fish agitated the very fine sediment, but this filter eventually rid the entire pond of all sediment and green water. Incredible result. Very easy to back-wash the filter too. I really recommend this product. It works really well and is well "on top" of the job. Its the first time we have had clear water - absolutely crystal clear. Fantastic result. We back-wash the crap to the garden and the plants have gone crazy with growth.

It really does clear the pond
I think it's better to buy a filter that copes with a slightly bigger pond than what you may have. (Just a suggestion) That said it cleared my pond in six days . I would suggest that the filter is spun and emptied once each day over that period. There is no need to spin it like a loony btw, you are not starting the propeller on a Sopwith Camel because the unit is built for filtration not flying. Just a steady turn of the handle will do the job , say 20 or so . Keep an eye on the pond level and top it up if needed. The waste water is very good for your flowers or vegetables . The water in my pond was a pea souper . Yes the filters may be expensive but being an animal lover it's not fair on the fish to live in green and dirty water . It's not their choice to . I think after a week you will be pleasantly surprised😉.

Crystal clear water
Quickly gets to work - UV light does its job - fish love it , pond is crystal. Minor maintenance to flush filters but is not too hard. When you need a big clean it comes apart easily and the supplier does all the bits you need. It’s great.

Good value for money and easy to install and maintain
Purchased to replace a tank type filter, this very easy to install works well and allows at the turn of a switch to clean the filters. The internal UV light is a bonus and easy to access. Very pleased with the whole system

Somewhat effective, clogs quickly
Half the price of the big brand filters, but there are reasons why. Filters algae out of the pond very effectively but after a week of sunny weather, it becomes clogged and needs cleaning. Running a cleaning cycle is straightforward (turn the valve, crank the handle a few dozen times) but it requires a good 5 mins on your knees with the pump running, draining the precious pond water. I suspect that if I kept cranking the handle for half an hour- it would run clear(-ish). However, there’s a law of diminishing returns and 3mins of cranking appears to be a working compromise. To get the filter properly clear, you have to dismantle, scoop out the sludge, disassemble all the sponge rings and reassemble. Conclusion- my old Hozelock filter which had no fancy self-cleaning mechanism was actually easier to clean. [Edit, Mar 2022] I'm getting fed up with this thing - doesn't keep the water clear at all. I can see the clumped algae floating all around in the pond and the filtered water comes back semi-green from the filter. UV lamp is still lit (I can see that through the check window). I dismantled the filter in February, and there really wasn't that much muck lodged in the sponge media. There was however a HUGE amount of thick black ooze in the bottom of the filter bucket, which just sits there and doesn't get trapped in the sponge. Hence, when you open the valve and crank the handle - it doesn't get flushed out. Thinking of junking this one and finding a better performing solution. [Edit May 2022] I think I may have found the source of the problem! The plastic tube which directs the flow of water up the centre of the unit, past the Quartz UV tube and out through the rotary hand-operated diverter valve - was COMPLETELY bunged up with compacted sludge. I've had this unit for 3 years, and have up until now not removed the UV tube for inspection/replacement. Pure laziness on my part. Blasted the sludge out with a hosepipe (yes, I know, you're not supposed to use treated water to clean the filter, but desperate times...) and sucked out the remaining gunk with a wet/dry vac. Have ordered a replacement UV lamp. Will report back if that makes any difference. I noticed that the quartz tube and lamp had a scum ring about 1" up. It seems that rainwater has been getting in through the top of the unit and there's no way out. Dried that out in the sun and reassembled. The original lamp was so jammed in its socket that it pulled apart during removal.

So far so good
So far so good. I bought this to replace an old Laguna PF8000. The new filter almost replicates the older Laguna design but the new device is a few centimetres shorter than the old filter but this easily padded out. Installation was very straight forward. All the existing hose connections could be used with without alteration other than changing the connectors. The new filter has now been running for 10 days and the pond is a clear as it's ever been. I do get the impression that the materials used are not as robust as the original but the cleaning mechanism is very straightforward to use. So far I'm very pleased with what I bought.

Pond filter.
Wish I'd had this design originally. This is replacing a filter under the decking near the pond. So this fits the space nicely. Having a separate outlet to remove waste is great. Otherwise I'd have to lift the complete filter full of water out of the under decking space, weekly, to clean. With this design, I can flush it fortnightly, give it a major clean 2 or 3 times a year. My pond was green before fitting this filter, now the water is clear.

6000 litre pond now clear as crystal.
Does a great job keeping the pond clear and easy to operate filter cleaning system that works well. . Seems to be very sturdy so cannot quite understand some reviews saying that it was poor quality and that the cleaning handle breaks easily.Almost put me off buying it but pleased it didn't Would suggest more regular cleaning than recommended in the instructions as excessive build up of sludge on the filters might be the reason that the winding handle has broken for some people.
