It just makes sense to have a copy of this *just in case*
I remembered reading this book as a youngster, and it was so amazing, like how you can get water from somewhere other than a tap or a supermarket, I remember it being revolutionary to me. I was probably about 6 or something at the time. Well now I'm one of those crazy preppers and I decided I cannot live without this book (just in case!) it has amazing content for many different situations, it covers your basics of water, food, shelter, etc and I enjoyed the knot section very much. I think every household should have a copy of this *just in case*. For a few quid it doesn't hurt having it around, you know if the world goes to pot. If you buy insurance for you house, phone, or whatever, but don't have basic insurance of life's simple necessities like how to source water if there's an issue with the water supply, then I think that's crazy. My mum's area were told not to drink the tap water for three days, shock and horror all the water at the supermarket had gone, now what if that was a larger area or longer duration? Just have a few bottles of water and some food and a good book just like this to keep yourself sorted for a while. The cat is a large adult male, for scale.

... on how to get through survival situations and a fantastic reading/reference book for any bushcrafter
An absolutely thorough book on how to get through survival situations and a fantastic reading/reference book for any bushcrafter. This guy only has Mors Kohanski and the indigenous hunter gatherers that are still left in this world as his peers. This book has more than enough detail to answer your questions but isn't so 'wordy' it's difficult to reference out of doors. As I've said in another review, if you have this book and Mors Kochansi literature you'll do a lot better in the bush than watching Bear Grylls flinging himself around. The reason I did this review (it's not like there's a shortage of them) is because this is one of the few books that I prefer in paperback to Kindle format, I bought the Kindle addition as my easily distracted mind wanders less in that format and I have and will read it but the paperback addition is easier to reference (the majority of the time) outdoors and sometimes part of the appeal of the outdoors is to get away from the screens and electronics so all in all, the paperback version for the win (and the type of thing Lofty might say ''you can use your mates copy as kindling'').

Good content, good information, excellent value.
There is very little, if anything, wrong with this little book. My days of being very fit are long gone, but then the chances of me being stranded without good supplies in any sort of wilderness are also now very remote. However, the experience that I do have leads me to make one comment at least. Although in a (literally) small book such as this, space is a premium, I think the important of physical fitness was not emphasised enough. Mental aspects were covered better. If you really are in the situations that the book tries to help about, your chances of survival are significantly enhanced by already being fit. This almost cannot be stressed enough. Once upon a time, the chances of unfit people being in such situations anyway was very small. But in the modern world with people easily able to transport themselves with modern vehicles, it's less unlikely than it used to be. Still, for £2.99 this is a good buy and contains much interesting and useful information even if it is not likely to be used by most members of the general public.

Something for everyone!
Covers more than you might imagine, teaching you how to deal with stressful situations in a clear no nonsense way. Emergency child birth, no problem with this book at your side. Find reliable food no matter where you find yourself in the world. Every household should have a copy, one of the most important books you can own. Lofty Wiseman is the real deal who gives it straight but also with warmth and compassion. Don't travel without it !!!

Seems like there is a red flag for anyone who purchases ...
Apparently, buying this book from Amazon caused the police to suspect I was going to Syria or something. Seems like there is a red flag for anyone who purchases books like this despite them being rather popular. After visiting Republic of Georgia in October 2015, I arrived back at the airport only to be taken into a back room and interogated about where I had been and who I was with. They threatened to keep me for days but I called their bluff and was allowed to continue on my way. It wasn't until I got home that I realised that the police had been to my home and looked in my room. They told my parents they had received an anonymous tipp off that I was going to Syria but they had told my parents that it was something to do with a survival book. This very book I purchased. So be warned, if you are planning any holiday's don't buy this book if you don't want to end up getting flagged up.

Too general
I like the book but would wanted more information on specific survival skills, actions. Too much general information like be prepared, let someone know where you are going, use peoples skills..

Excelente! Já conhecia a obra no formato impresso, agora com o e-book tenho o livro sempre em mãos. O melhor que já li sobre técnicas de sobrevivência.

This book handles a variety of topics very well. Trapping, tracking, foraging, hunting, etc., it's all covered. They are only covered in a basic sense though, so don't expect to know the "in's and out's" of tracking or identifying edible plants, but you will know enough to fare well in a survival situation. The information in the book seems to be sensible, and I've heard some of the same tips from other sources - so I wouldn't hesitate to trust it in most situations. Grammatically speaking, the writer is obviously influenced by British English so some words are a bit different. Thankfully, I know a bit of that background so it's not too unfamiliar. The author does misspell things quite frequently and uses improper punctuation at times, but that makes me believe what I'm reading a bit more. Since it tries to prepare you for a lot, it's a rather long book, but it is definitely worth the time to read it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a comprehensive and understandable "how-to" survival manual.

Amazing! Had coloured pictures for edible plants and so many coloured and detailed pages to help understand everything from tying knots to which fish are safe to eat and which are not. Easy to follow and I have bought a lot of survival books and this is the BEST and EASIEST to follow and learn from. Great! Would buy again!
