The media could not be loaded.  We are so pleased with the quality of this train set! And under $50.!! We like being able to use AA batteries to replace them when needed but we have been running this train a lot and haven’t needed to replace batteries yet. The sound level is soft, the steam works well, and the lights work well! Also the locomotive is a metal alloy and has some heft to it- nice! By the way, to turn on the passenger car lights , first pull out the plastic tab on the battery compartment located underneath the car and then turn on the light switch. Enjoy!!

Out of the box the quality is very good. We made some modifications to it, however:1- Disabled the artificial engine sounds by disconnecting the tiny speaker in the engine (we prefer quiet operation). Provides less battery drain.2- Disabled the smoke feature. Just seems this may eventually cause internal damage to the engine and create spills/leaks etc. Also provides less battery drain.3- Trimmed away "stairs" on the lower carriage on the passenger cars so the internal light switch is more easily accessed while on the tracks.The set does not come with a re-railing track. Also, while sturdy & reliable, assembling the tracks is a bit finicky, as it requires 2 separate, small clips to be installed at each rail joint.Now the best parts, why we like it:1. It runs quietly & smoothly.2. The passenger car lighting is a real bonus.3. The curved rail sections are 45 degrees, which allows more track layout options than our older set with 60 degree sections.4. Perfect around Christmas trees.There are many importers of this set and its variations. Shop around for the best price & features.Highly Recommended.

This not only is made well, but has all the benefits of realistic smoke, real train sounds, lighted cars, and actually Stays On The Tracks! Kids love it. Engine batteries located in coal car 4AA (not included) so easy to change, 8hrs run time. LR44 batteries 3 per car light up great! (Comes with) Track set up easy and stays stable!Perfect sized addition to our Christmas town collection! Not worth the money cheap made cheap

This train looks great under a Christmas tree! I love the lights and steam. What I don’t like is that there’s no volume control and the sound gets really annoying after a while. Also it’s a little difficult getting all the wheels onto the tracks, so when my 2 yr old keeps knocking it off the tracks it gets frustrating spending a few minutes each time getting it back on.
