Strong and sturdy
Did the job on a long haul flight carried three rods and a roll up may in it.

Learn from my mistake
Please do learn from my experience. Do not replace the locking pins with padlocks especially wire ones. Due to the not so gentle treatment by airlines the wire acts like a cheese wire and will slice through the plastic. The best way to secure when travelling would be to continue to use the metal pins supplied but then drill a hole/holes to insert a padlock. The pins will ensure that the rod case will not be compressed (as in my case breaking a much loved rod) and the drilled holes for the security padlocks will ensure your rods are not tampered with. I have a Fenwick 13.5' rod that is 32 years old I just love, but could never find a multiple rod holder case to protect it! Well those days are over this case is very strong and even held up to my grand children playing with it (apparently they think it's a rocket worth riding). Wives never pay attention to what the kids are into in the man cave. Any way if this case can hold up to them one afternoon with only scrapes to show for it, I won't give the airport a second thought. Recommend this case to any traveler or grand parent out there. Wet lines people!

We just received our Plano Airliner telescopic rod carrier for our impending trip to Central America. I easily packed in 3 80” rods and a cardboard tube of rolled up maritime charts. There was plenty of space for all with room to spare and the cushioning in both end cups was well appreciated. The weight was fine, the design very secure and the shell provides robust protection for the gear inside. The handle is well positioned for good balance and the clips provided work well - will easily fit a padlock if preferred. I would happily recommend this case and don’t have any design improvements to suggest. This is pretty much a military grade rig and very affordable. Will last a long time and many trips to Central America!
