Best safety addition for any rider
This is the best safety addition for any rider, even more than the helmet itself, because you can easily see behind without risking a wobble. It's probably saved my life over the years, and it's great when you're riding with someone else you want to keep an eye on. Much better than mirrors on the bike, in my experience, especially if you have more than 1 bike. But not recommended if you're wearing strong vari-focal spectacles, as you'll be looking through the wrong part of the lens. We found the velcro mountings let vibration through, so we fix them with cable ties (see photos). There's plenty of fine adjustment, and we bend the stalk to the best overall position. Amazingly, they even work well when cycling abroad on the other side of the road. Warning - the end is quite delicate, and we break about one a year, but they're such life-savers that we just treat them like disposable batteries, and keep a couple of spares on hand. I just unscrew the head to replace it without disturbing the cable ties. Highly recommended - wouldn't be without them.

Overall, a Godsend
To set the scene, I am late fifties and a bike commuter who enjoys a couple of tours a year, maybe a couple of nights each time. I don't care what I look like and I am positively fluorescent in parts riding either a hybrid workhorse or a tourer. I even have 3M reflective tape stuck to the sides of my bike for roundabout hustlers. I try and stick to the back roads but we all know you can't always do that and that you have to venture out with the big boys sometimes. This mirror takes a little bit of getting used to. I wear glasses which probably doesn't help but after a couple of outings the small lens offered me a good view of behind and I knew just where to position it and where to look. My glasses are a pain in the rain whatever so no change there. Fitting was a bit tricky but I am the type of DIY'er who always needs to call in a professional to sort out what I have done. The mirror was on the opposite side for British roads so you'll need to figure that out. I'm sure its very simple and you will do it quicker than me. After a couple of rides, it was clear to me that this is a very important safety item. It is particularly useful in the dark when car headlights are picked up a long way away. Once you have your positioning right you will have a great rear view. I went coast to coast across England with it and it was a fabulous safety blanket. The mirror lets you see cars dropped in behind you waiting for a safe place to overtake. You can't quite see the driver but it is a really good view - it just takes a little bit of getting used to. I sense that sometimes drivers notice the mirror and are hopefully encouraged too. There are two issues with the mirror. Firstly - far too many of you care what you look like too much which is actually your problem not the mirrors. Secondly - a pad with glue on was never going to work for long and unsurprisingly it didn't. Like another reviewer, I put a couple of small screws into the helmet foam through the plate and it is solid as a rock. I would rather not have the screws there but on balance I think they offer more safety than risk. You can remind me that I said that later... Anyway, overall, I am really pleased with this mirror. If like me you care more about getting home than attracting the desirious looks of the Peloton then I would seriously recommend.

Works
Once set up I quite liked this as it was easy with a small movement to see what’s behind you. Several cycling mates have radar alerts for a few quid this was imho better.

Safety first
First off what’s wrong. Your head is curved, your helmet is curved, yet the mount is flat, so when you stick the Velcro tape to the inside of you helmet it conforms to the curve of the helmet. The Velcro on the mount itself is flat. So when you try to stick a curve to a flat surface the joining surface is very small. To get around this design error I used double sided sticky tape to build up the curve inside the helmet to give a flat surface for the mount to stick to Second bad thing - the mount has a large fixing for the arm that I had to file away as it was painful to wear. Having fixed the fitting issues. I have found having a mirror is really really helpful. It allows me to see what is behind me at a glance. I still perform a shoulder check before pulling out or turning, but I find it difficult to see what is directly behind without using this little mirror. Forward vision isn’t really affected as the mirror sits off to one side.

Useless. Do not buy.
The whole point of this product is the mirror - but it is useless. It gives a very blurry image that is very difficult to see. Previously I owned a Third-Eye Mirror glasses/helmet cycling mirror, so having wasted my money on this product I went back and purchased another Third-Eye Mirror. Wow. So, so much better. Lightweight, big mirror, crystal clear. Fantastic. So, in summary, do not waste your money on a Zefal Z Eye Helmet Mirror, go for a Third Eye Mirror - I bought the "Third Eye Pro Helmet Bicycle Mirror" and used it with velcro pads so that I can use it on either side of my helmet (or transfer it to a new helmet if needed).

Just a poor quality product
The basic form of this helmet mirror is fine and it is very convenient mounted on the helmet. Unfortunately the ‘mirror’ (if I dare call it that) is shockingly poor quality (and yes, I did remove the protective film). Everything is hazy and indistinct and really hard to focus on. It needs to be made of real mirror glass ratter than chrome plated plastic.

Not for everyone but brilliant balance of price functionality and safety
For age challenged cyclists with increasingly stiffening necks this small light but robust rear view mirror attaches to your helmet and provides excellent addiitional information on traffic coming up from behind when cycling on quiet roads and enables me to keep tabs on my wife when she is no longer tucking in behind my rear wheel ! On some road surfaces the vibration makes it hard to use but I would rather keep its light tensile construction and put up with that. I would suggest that you need to be very comfortable with your balance on the bike to be able to use this effectively - and to persevere for the first miles in getting its angle and your head movement and mirror positiong right. But with that caveat for the money I think this is one of the best safety accessories I have owned.

When I first ordered this I was a bit unsure if this would actually be useful or if it'd end up collecting dust somewhere. It turns out that it works much better than I expected! The mirror is not too small but is actually just enough to keep up with what's behind me on the read. Once properly adjusted it was effortless to use and became second nature in absolutely no time at all. I don't use this on every ride, but I do use it when I know that I'll be riding for long distances in traffic. For those rides this allows me to confidently use the road fully even as a "mere cyclist". I'll see when I should pull over to the side and I'll get plenty of notice when a large truck is about to pass. The only gripe I have with it is the velcro type attachment system. It works, but it isn't super sturdy, so it can make it a bit hard to dial in perfectly. The plastic bit that goes inside your helmet is also surprisingly thick, so if your helmet is a little snug, like mine was, then it gets a bit uncomfortable over time. Not a deal breaker, and for the price I'd still recommend it, but worth keeping in mind!

Excelente ya es como el 4 espejo me ha salvado de Accidentes con. Autos y se ve bien pero me gustaría que se pudiera plegar porque al caer el casco se puede danar el soporte y no el espejo que es de buena calidad.

Simple but good. Not very strong so needs to be handled with care. Don't know how it will stand in the long run.
