The link left by simsonians in his comment below says that 1/3 of the 16 types of organic oats tested had glyphosate. Only 2 of 45 of the conventional oatmeal samples did not have glyphosate when EGW tested them. If Quaker or it's competitors reads this, please tell the farmers supplying you to stop using glyphosate. Us customers are aware that the "non-GMO" label is not the safety badge that it is being used to be.

is this the just add hot water type or do you need a cooktop?

This is possibly the most unhelpful collection of answers for the question posted, lol... it's clearly a personal preference kind if situation as it's about a 50/50 split on the correct way to prepare. I would have to agree with those who said you do NOT need a cook-top. Boiling or nearly boiling water has ALWAYS worked just fine throughout the 15+yrs I've been preparing this oatmeal for myself. I must admit I am a bit intrigued by the responses that explain a longer stove-top method- mostly because the way they explain how it gets thicker as you slow cook the oats... got my mouth watering just thinking about it!

I don't understand are these instant or do they have to be cooked on the stove

You can convert "old fashioned oats" to "instant oats" by putting it in the blender and just hit PULSE 2 times.  Not too much or you end up with oat flour.  Not too little or it's too oaty.  It's like the 3 bears, you have to do it "just right".

How much glysophate ppb (pesticides) does this have on average?

1300 ppb which is more than 10 times the amount a human should ingest.   If you call them they will brush you off and say that it’s “legal”.  I could never knowingly feed this chemical laden pat to anyone.  Quaker is a despicable company.   If you or someone you love likes these oats try substituting Bob’s Red Mills Organic Quick Cooking oats.  They are exactly the same but minus the 10 servings of cancer-causing Roundup.
