I really wanted to start using menstrual cups to cut down on both waste and costs, but was pretty freaked out by the idea of menstrual cups for awhile - I mean I don't even like using tampons and used to prefer pads. I researched a bunch of different cups and was intrigued by Saalt's soft cups, figured getting the soft+regular small sized cups would be a good choice for a beginner, and they absolutely are. Never going back to pads and the occasional tampon again! The learning curve was admittedly a bit steep at first, and there was a moment when I wanted to just give up on them. But I turned on a podcast to distract myself (so important to be relaxed down there!), got into a comfy squat in the shower, used some lube, tried a few different folds and finally started getting the hang of it. (The punch down fold works the best for me, both for insertion and for popping out/unfolding once it's in.) By the end of the week it was fairly easy, and it's now the start of my 2nd cycle using cups and it's nearly old hat already. I do wish that I'd purchased the small+regular sizes instead of 2 small, because I quickly realized there's no way the small cups can contain my heavy overnight flows, plus I absolutely need to dump at least twice during the day on my heavy days with the small cups. I leaked every single night for the first 3 nights using the small cups. (Luckily my period panties prevented a blood bath on my sheets, highly recommend them in conjunction with cups. Not a single drop on my sheets despite the inside of my period panties getting pretty drenched!) I'd read some reviews saying the soft cups don't provide as good of a seal as the regular ones, which is why I purchased the 2 pack of both soft+regular. They both seem to seal well for me, though I haven't tested them out while being super active. The soft one was easier to insert at first for sure, but honestly once I got over being intimidated by cups and started getting the hang of them, they're both pretty easy to insert. Last thing is that pantiliners and/or period panties are still needed with cups, because after dumping and reinserting cups, some residual blood pretty much always drips down from the sides of the cup below the seal. Apparently this is called "residual slobber" - kinda gross name but, er, accurate. Love menstrual cups, no more gross smells of stagnant oxidized blood, or chafing and diaper/pad rash, or bathroom trash cans stuffed full of pads every month. I've since purchased a couple much cheaper cups for their larger capacities, and they seem to take a bit more wiggling/rotating to get a good seal and are perhaps slightly less comfortable, but they work just as well as these Saalt cups once they're inserted properly. TLDR: These are fantastic cups, especially for beginners! You'll likely need their larger size for heavy flow days though.

My menstrual cup adventure began a little over a year ago. My first cup was the Lunette (model 1, for light-normal flow). It's important to note that I got that cup when I was on hormonal birth control which made my periods pretty light. I loved that cup for the first year, but for the past 4 periods or so, I've had constant leaking issues and I could not fix the problem. Not only that, but I've since switched to the Paragard copper IUD for birth control, so my periods are back to how they were pre-hormones, which are reasonably heavy. My Lunette was getting filled to the top in 4-5 hours which got to be really inconvenient because I prefer to not have to empty my cup while I'm at work. I took the popular "what cup should you get" test again, knowing that my periods are heavier nowadays and now knowing how high my cervix sits normally on my period. My results came back with this Saalt cup in the size regular, and I ordered it right away after being completely fed up with yet another pair of underwear getting ruined because my previous cup was leaking all over no matter what I did. So far, I love it! I LOVE how much "bigger" it is in comparison to my old cup. Not bigger in the sense that like, it'll be hard to put in - but bigger in that it can hold so much more. Granted my first cup was for light-normal flow while this one is for normal-heavy, but it's a welcome change either way. It's soft, very flexible, and super comfortable. No issues putting it in, and right away I felt confident that it won't be leaking after it popped open and I made sure there was good suction. I put it to the test the first day too, going to a VR arcade which involved a lot of bodily movement, running around town doing errands, and just in general doing some ridiculous aerobic moves in my home to make sure nothing got past. Clean underwear!! What an amazing sight! I wanted to add, for menstrual cups in general - I was someone who wore pads for every period before I got into cups. I couldn't use tampons because no matter what size, no matter how I put them in, I could FEEL them constantly, they dried me out so quickly, and I could never make it past a couple hours before starting to feel nauseous with them in. I thought that the menstrual cup would be the same story, but not at all. I literally cannot feel it in my body no matter what I'm doing, there is no nausea, and it lets my body stay regular and not get dried out with a wad of cotton soaking everything up. ALSO. For anyone curious about if you can use these when you have an IUD in - yes you can! If you're not sure, then talk to your doctor. But I got the green light from my gyno that it is totally fine to use a menstrual cup even if you have an IUD in, as long as you break the suction before pulling it out like you're supposed to - don't just YOINK that sucker out of there without breaking suction first. I love this cup and I will be recommending it!

Only had it for 24 hours and already so happy with it. No leaks and can’t even tell it’s in there. Think getting it in and out might take some practice but so much better then tampons or pads. Highly recommended to anyone who’s looking for another option aside from the standard pads and tampons
