Not Useful Just Having the Book
The Suzuki philosophy as far as I can see needs consistent immersions and guidance from a teacher and an involved parents/guardian for it to work. It's different from the rote classical training from my childhood. There is nothing wrong with this and my child is thriving in the program. The Suzuki method itself is really wonderful and organic! However this product will not help a self guided learner and this really requires the CD to constantly hear how the pieces are played, like how you'd hear foreign language clips in a class. So just the book alone is really not useful and I'd look for the actual bundle version or be prepared to purchase the CD separately.

Very fine book
As a beginner with only several months of lessons, I am very happy, and challenged, by the music in this book. It's nice to have proven music to play--sometimes a book provides what I call (not disparagingly) kid books. Some of these pieces are not too demanding, some are very demanding. Challenge, of course, is fine in any endeavour, and this book provides it. I'm nearing the end and already have the 2d and 3rd books ready to go. Playing the CD when first having the books was quite intimidating. I knew I'd probably never be able to get through the book. Playing it again when nearing completion of the book is encouraging, in that I now know it is possible to accomplish the feat. Not anywhere near proficiently yet, but my morale is considerably boosted.

Good
Pretty basic. Near the end the last couple songs get more difficult. But if you go by Suzuki's method the goal isn't just to play these songs, but listen to the CD daily for a long time, then learn to play them by ear. Next make them beautiful and perfect.I really his book Nurtured by Love by Sinichi Suzuki, it helps you understand him, and the importance of becoming a good person first and then obtaining the ability.I recommend getting the book that includes the CD like this one. I read the reviews and said that the New International book was the best. I thought it was fine. It has about 4 different languauges for the intructions also.

Not tutorial books
I bought the first three volumes of the Suzuki Piano School thinking they would have teaching material rather than just sheet music. I was wrong. These books are designed to be used with the assistance of a Suzuki teacher and not as stand alone 'teach yourself' books. The music is interesting to play and is useful as practice material but for the price there is not much of it.If you are using a Suzuki teacher then I am sure these books are ideal, but if, like me, you are learning from tutorial books and the internet there are much better options available.

Not a teach yourself Suzuki piano book
This is not a 'teach yourself suzuki piano' book. It has the music sheets to be used with a suzuki teacher. This is what we are doing. The CD is brilliant. It helps to play it to your children frequently so they understand what the music sounds like.
