Deep Fill Mince Pie or Custard Tart Foil Cases (Pack of 260)

Purchased to use for mince pies. 200 should last me a few years, but the quality and size is just right. Would recommend.

Worked perfectly for Mince Pies.

Just right for making deep fill mince pies - I love mincemeat but not very keen on pastry so they were ideal for me. The foil is sturdy enough to keep shape while putting in the pastry. I tried cooking them on a tray and in muffin tins and found the pastry cooked perfectly just on a tray. Also, it was good storing in the cases rather than just as tarts/pies.

Smaller than I expected / wanted, but still will use & good for the price.

These deep fill foil cases have been a great success... thank goodness. I've not used cases quite as deep as these before, so I was glad that I gave the pastry that was going to line them a good rest before rolling out, otherwise the pastry might have split while I was trying to line the cases - I'm usually a bit impatient to get the job done. I needed a big pastry cutter, the 11cm one, because these little beauties take more than I originally estimated to come right up to the top of the sides with a little rim, and with the sides being quite steep, there was a bit of folding of the pastry while it was being fitted in. Luckily, these foil cases are quite tolerant of having thin pastry pressed in to fit, there wasn't any buckling. So far, I've just used a pate sucree, because I wanted to fill the cases with sweet,creamy middles, and make deep fill frangipane tartlets but these cases will be quite happy to accept shortcrust, so I can fill up the middles for deep fill savoury tartlets and mini pies. I think I'll need to use quite a high gluten flour, say an 00 pasta flour for making pastry to encase savoury fillings in these foils, just to get that bit of extra 'stretch' in the pastry to prevent any splitting and keep the pastry case slim and crisp. These foils do make a huge difference to the way the food looks, too. I made a batch of tarts using these foils earlier, and they've all gone. Already! They're super non-stick, too. I'm well impressed.

These are perfect for any tarts to make. Easy to use as the size is right with the depth.
