How big is the container? the description says it's 2 inches wide, thus suggesting it comes in a tardis...

I think it's closer to 5" in diameter and about 5" tall.

Have not experienced mold at all with this product. Great product.

Which is a stronger hold the matte or the original hold pomade?

I believe the holding power of the matte and the original are similar. The matte just provides a matte sheen to the hair and original provides a little shininess to the hair. If you have thicker hair go with the firme hold, it also provides a little shine to the hair.

Is this a giant tub to make it 2 pounds or several small containers?

It says it's 32 oz, but what I bought is one jar. which is 4 oz. When I looked this up it states that you get 2 jars that are a pound a piece. That seems like an amount for a hair salon or barber.
