Blue Stratos Aftershave

Bought for my husband as a Christmas present as he already has the body spray. He likes the scent of it and the scent lasts a long time. A value for money gift and good quality too.

I remember the advertisements on TV… sea birds flying high, a man hang gliding, rugged guy slapping Blue Stratos aftershave on his face and woman caressing him. The men always seemed “smart casual” and lived a life slightly out of reach. What do you mean that was fifty years ago? I’m going to have that life right now by liberally applying Blue Stratos! As a very popular product during the 70s and 80s, I was quite keen to try Blue Stratos again as part of my quest to accumulate various aftershaves of yesteryear. This particular one is inexpensive (unlike the accompanying lifestyle!) and comes in a fairly distinctive if not particularly exciting blue bottle with the sea bird logo. It has a fresh smell which falls somewhere between Old Spice and Brut… fewer spicy notes than Old Spice but not quite as fresh and punchy as Brut. It is quite refreshing and cooling on the face and neck after shaving and the scent lingers a reasonable amount of time for an aftershave (perhaps getting on for four hours). There is less sting from this aftershave than some others. The aftershave is part of a range of Blue Stratos products which includes a shower gel, a body spray and an eau de toilette. Combining them might allow you to smell like the 1970s or 1980s that much longer. Back in the day, there was a time that this was one of the few aftershaves that I owned, alongside Insignia. You didn’t necessarily get to choose the ones that you got for Christmas but I do have a familiarity and fondness for this one and am glad to have reacquainted myself with it. It doesn’t quite hold up to some of the other classics such as Old Spice or Tabac and in the modern era doesn’t have the nuance and complexity of some of the more recent fragrances. However, it was good for its day and I think still has a place as a fresh and pleasing scent for general use. But I still haven’t got that lifestyle they promised me!

This aftershave brings back so many memories from the '70's when it was first introduced. Still smells lovely but being budget end, it doesn't last all day like premium brands. Well worth the pennies though!

OK don't last that long, smells OK, nothing really to remember about it. Good enough for work or every day.

Cor this takes me back! Actually nicer than I remembered, subtle but very manly, unlike some of these pot pourri fragrances out there currently.
