The Queen of Your Kitchen
I would like to apologize to my arms for ever making them knead dough by hand. This is not a mixer. It is a war machine disguised as a baking tool. I have fed it bread dough so dense it could double as a medieval weapon. It did not struggle. It did not hesitate. It rotated with the confidence of something that knows it is stronger than me. Cake batter? Silky. Cookie dough? Obliterated. 6lbs of potatoes? It barely considers it cardio. And the bowl-lift mechanism? Dramatic. Industrial. Theatrical. When you lift the bowl up into position it feels like you’re preparing for launch. I almost expect dramatic music and a countdown. It’s heavy. It’s sturdy. It does not scoot across the counter like lesser appliances. You will choose its spot wisely because once it’s there, it lives there now. This is not a “tuck it into a cabinet” kind of mixer. This is a permanent kitchen resident with strong opinions. The kitchen is no longer yours. It belongs to the Kitchenaid. If you bake occasionally, this might be overkill. If you bake regularly, cook in bulk, meal prep, shred meat, or want to own an appliance that emits chaotic domestic power and could take over your house, this is your machine. Five stars. Ten if I could. I welcome my countertop overlord.

Two mixers broken within two-three minutes.
Purchased a KitchenAid 7-quart mixer at the sale price of $549 on day one; died two minutes into mixing batter. I did the recommended troubleshooting process, plugged into other outlets, checked the circuit breaker & kept unplugged for a full day. Still did not work. I called KitchenAid, and they were willing to replace it but would take 6-8 weeks. They then offered to refund my money only after they received the mixer. I opted to return to Amazon as it was brand new. I really wanted a mixer for the holidays, so, on a gamble, I ordered a second mixer at full price, $649. With both, I added the Acurion insurance (Acurion refunded me right away). After dropping off the first mixer at UPS, I discovered that Amazon will not release $$ funds $$ until they receive the mixer. I did not know this when purchasing the second mixer. Now I am $1200 on hold on my credit card. Not only are my funds held, but the return is via UPS Ground, a slow boat. This KitchenAid 7-quart mixer must be a bad batch from the KitchenAid for Amazon. Very tough disappointment! I really hoped that the second one would have worked for me. With a 7-quart mixer, I opted to purchase from Amazon to get insurance, and I hoped the 7-quart would be more powerful for batched bread dough and large amounts of cookie batter. I did end up going to Costco for the smaller size 6-quart KitchenAid Mixer, and so far (two days in) it is working fine.

Nice mixer with many options
I recently had to replace my old 6 qt KitchenAid. I was very leery with some of the reviews I'd seen with the new mixers, however, I was pleasantly surprised with effectiveness of the machine. It has a great capacity and is way quieter than my previous KitchenAid. I love the ability to utilize the accessories I already have and the flexibility to add other new ones. The only downside is that there is a slight defect in the enamel paint job on the base, which doesn't impact the functionality, and I can live with it.

A bakers must have
Best mixer for the price, quiet, easy to clean, multi speed settings. Very nice to see on countertop!

Powers through 6 cups of bread dough like nothing and looks great!
My old 325watt 5 quart Kitchenaid has been struggling with kneading bread dough. I've rebuilt it once but it still sometimes would stop and hum. It's still fine for everything else, though loud. We have had it, for, I believe, over 25 years. For Thanksgiving, I made fresh bread (delicious) but had to do all the kneading by hand--this is why old-time bakers all had big muscular arms--it's a workout! The old machine will go to one of our offspring because it still does everything else better than a hand mixer, and probably any other mixer. This machine is 500 watts, and 7 quarts, and comes with the regular beater, squeegee beater for things like cake mixes, a wire whisk, improved pouring shield, and a pig-tail dough hook, a huge improvement on the old flat hook. First time making bread (NEVER go over the #2 speed!) it powered through the dough quietly and only after many, many minutes got a little warm, where the old one couldn't be run for more than 2 minutes at a time (when kneading dough) with a minute or two to cool each time. I didn't even have to do a final hand knead! Despite being bigger and stronger it actually doesn't take up much more real estate than the old one and feels a bit lighter surprisingly, although still very heavy. Lots of little improvements: A nice knob on the lifting jack handle, a better-looking brushed nickel knob on the speed control over the old black plastic one, and 11 speeds rather than ten. The pouring shield is now one piece rather than two and enclosed on top rather than open, and works very well. They even upgraded the power-takeoff locking screw and cover. Finally, they added a cord wrap when not using it. So far, the only drawback is the handsome textured matte black finish: flour gets stuck on it much more easily than on the smooth finish. I do not know if the other colors are the same or smooth, but this was the right color for our kitchen.

Two Failures
It happened not once – but twice! I ordered a KitchenAid 7 Quart Bowl Lift Stand Mixer in Empire Red from Amazon which I had to return two days after delivery because it was defective. I’m 81 years old, so lugging it back to a local UPS store twice was no small feat. On the plus side, there was no problem with Amazon accepting the return, and the refund was prompt. Both mixers were delivered on very cold winter days, so I left them in the box for a day to warm up. The next day, I plugged the mixer into a ground fault outlet and turned it on. It began running. Next, I made a bread dough mix of 3 cups of flour and 1 ½ cups of water etc. and turned on the mixer with the dough hook. It ran for about 1 minute, then it just stopped. I tried using other plugs in the kitchen, but the mixer would not run. This exact scenario happened twice. I have owned a KitchenAid Professional 600 for about 30 years without ever a single problem. That is the reason I took a chance and ordered the new mixer a second time. Even a company with such a good reputation and track record can have a problem once in a while. I was both disappointed and astonished that there seems to be a problem with that model. Of course, with such a significant problem right out of the box, I wasn’t about to troubleshoot and try to solve the problem. I tried contacting the company via email to understand what happened, but got no response.

Great Deal
Purchased this Kitchen Aid model for my oldest granddaughter who is getting married. This is the one she wanted. I have a similar 40 year old model that is still used very often. KA maintains their continued quality, look, basic color, and multi speed. I am sure whe will get 40 years plus out of hers as well.
