Makes girls happy
I bought this to expose my girlfriend to astronomy, as she told me recently that she'd never seen the night sky through a telescope before. It had been a while since I had either, so I saw this as an excuse to get my hands on a semi-hefty beginner-level refractor scope. To my pleasant surprise, my favorite planet, Saturn was visible just a few degrees above the darkest part of the horizon, and I was able to find a place where we could view it properly in the back yard the night after receiving this telescope. The look of shock and delight in her face after she saw Saturn's rings was worth every penny. She spent until 2:00AM scanning the stars.Pros:-Easy to set up-Easy to position/holds its position well-The planets and the Moon come through as clear as day (although I'd suggest a better scope with those who have poor eyesight)-Good size for transportCons:-The red dot scope is cool, but I still can't manage to calibrate it properly, I think this is a personal shortfall though.-For dimmer objects, like nebulas, I'd suggest something a little more heavy-duty.-focussing the scope can be difficult for beginners as it will cause the object to wobble too violently for fine-tuning.

Great starter telescope
Very impressed with what you’re able to view with this telescope considering it was around £100 and lots of advice given was to avoid things in this price range and less than 100mm.It’s very portable even with the stand. The stand is light and yes it does wobble but being patient with stability isn’t a problem as it settles down quickly to view what you want to see.The dot finder is probably the most difficult part to set up and please do this during daylight if you’re planning to view anything. Once set up it’s a piece of cake to find anything that you want to look at.Since Christmas Day my son and I have viewed the moon, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. Most impressively is that you can see the rings of Saturn and make out the bands of Jupiter which is amazing.I would highly recommend for a beginner scope.

Ideal Christmas Present, Great Telescope!
Ordered for my partner for Christmas. I am a Prime member so it arrived the next day which I was impressed with. Slightly disappointed in the telescope's box as it had tape wrapped around it so looked like it had previously been returned. My partner and I opened the box to ensure everything was there and he couldn't resist setting up. Very easy to put together with instructions and lightweight so can be easier carried. Looks very professional and is simple to use. My partner had a quick look at the sky but he'll have to wait till Christmas to look properly!

Not bad... Not bad at all
Great starter telescope arrived a few days and already been able to see the north star and the moon. Not had any luck with planets but i guess thats with the coverage outside. Only downside is mine came with a different star pointer than the one shown in the images. I am unable to get this star pointer to fit as the mount is not correct and i have contacted amazon who said they are unable to supply or replace the pointer. I was how ever offered a full refund and they can send a new telescope with the correct pointer or get 25% back so i did this and will just use some mounting tape to get the pointer to fit. Overall its a great starter for people who like astronomy. if you want to see Galaxy's and planets with clearer image i would buy a more expensive one.

Certainly not what was I hoping for
Having specifically bought this telescope for both astronomy and terrestrial viewing, I was really disappointed that Amazon's own description clearly states that it can be used for both. Those of you that know their telescopes (and I do now thanks to this experience!) will know that Newton refractors invert images - so any land images will be upside down. The point here is that I trusted Amazon's own product description and I now find that I have missed the return window. Also, it's worth saying that I would recommend that if looking to buy one of these, have a look at one in person first. The overall product quality is poor, the tripod flimsy and it feels cheap. The laser sight didn't work (as others have said) and the attachment fiddly. I've since bought another telescope which is more expensive but the quality is at another level. You get what you pay for I guess. My advice would be shop around!
