Its 60" cable eliminates crawling around under a desk in the dark while trying to locate a USB port on a computer, but if that's not long enough, you might add another USB extension in between, such as this AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable (3.3 Feet/1.0 Meter) to extend its reach. I found the female USB plug on the base to be a bit tight. Before using this unit, it helps to insert the male plug from the cord end and move it in and out a few times prior to using it with a USB flash drive, as some of those have fragile plugs. It's a good product, and for my personal needs, it's not just a good moveable port for USB flash drives. It provides an excellent base for my Goal Zero 14101 Luna USB LED Stick Light as an accessory work light on the desktop. Unlike other similar products, this one is weighted just enough to keep the light from getting too tipsy when plugged into the dock-style port, though sometimes a simple adjustment on the flexible neck of the light cures that problem. Having the 90° vertical port helps quite a bit. The StarTech 5ft Desktop USB Extension Cable works well as an extension dock in a variety of configurations, and not just as a desktop port for USB flash drives. For the price, it's an excellent deal. For what it offers in versatility and convenience, it's a solid 5-star product, and highly recommended. 10/10/2012

When I ordered this, I'd planned to run it behind one of my monitors, assuming that the female connector wouldn't be all that sturdy and I wanted to keep it out of harm's way as I tend to be very rough with things that are on my desk. This was for the headset I wear while I'm on the phone during the day, which came with far too short a cord to be of any use. This extension cable works perfectly and it won't become disconnected easily, which is a huge plus for me! As always, if something changes, I'll post an addendum here.

I purchased this for use specifically with a USB Bluetooth adapter, which I use to connect PS5 DualSense controllers to my PC. Having the Bluetooth adapter directly connected to the PC can cause interference issues, especially with USB 3.0 ports, and I was occasionally experiencing controller dropouts. Using this adapter allows me to move the Bluetooth adapter away from the PC, and directly into line-of-sight of the controller. Also since the adapter is USB 2.0, it does not have the interference issues caused by USB 3.0. Overall this adapter works great for my needs and I've yet to experience any controller dropouts while using it.

I used this to move a Bluetooth dongle that was stuck around back of my PC to the top, where the antenna is not surrounded by obstructions. It works for that purpose, and the cable seems to be of good build quality. The little rounded base where the USB outlet sits is nice, but needs to be a bit thicker and heavier so it doesn't get jostled around easily. But other than that, it's just fine.

Was having issues with a media keyboard (laggy, sometimes non-responsive to mouse/keyboard inputs) for my computer, and this cable absolutely solved it - connected the cable to my dock, ran it to the top of my tv stand, plugged the media keyboard receiver in, and now have full use of the keyboard from everywhere in my living room! Makes using my laptop as a gaming set up way easier, especially since I can still keep my laptop on a shelf of the tv stand out of the way, thanks to this cable!!

It's perfect for getting the transceiver--of my keyboard/mouse's USB 2.0--away from my electromagnetically noisy computer; and it sits solidly on my desk.

Recently purchased a USB fingerprint key reader for a closed & docked laptop, and I didn't want to have to contort my arm/wrist to log in so I picked up this desktop USB extension cable and it's worked out great. Heavy enough that it doesn't get pushed around my desk, but small enough to stay out of the way. I wish they offered a model with a shorter cord (since mine is sitting 1 foot from my laptop) but I guess it's better to have a little extra length than not enough. Happy with my purchase. I used to use StarTech components back in my PC building days and I recognized the name, and so far it hasn't let me down.

I used this on the back of my Samsung TV to watch movies via my flash drive. Since my hands are kind of big I simply connected this instead to the back of my TV for easier access and just insert the flash drive into this device and I'm golden! I also bought a second one to run a camera off my PC for Zoom meetings!

Cette rallonge USB est de bonne facture avec un socle relativement lourd et un cable de 1,5 m. qui est de bonne section et semble donc être de qualité. Les premières fois, il faut légèrement forcer pour rentrer la clé mais c'est tout à fait normal et même un signe de qualité car on peut penser que la clé ne va pas "bagoter" dans son support après un certain nombre de branchements. A l'utilisation, le socle-rallonge est transparent et ne perturbe en rien la liaison USB et c'est bien ce qu'on lui demande ! Bien pratique et donc à acheter les yeux fermés...

I've been playing with Windows 10 bio metrics and wanted to use a fingerprint scanner to log in. When looking at fingerprint scanners (I purchased a PQI model - ASIN B06XG4MHFJ) this was a suggested purchase to go with it and I couldn't agree more. Essentially this is a USB 2.0 extension lead with a weighted base that has a vertical mounted female USB port. Perfect for plugging a USB fingerprint reader into the top, or any other USB device or dongle that you want easy access to. If you want to use memory sticks and other high-speed devices then you should probably pay the extra and buy the USB 3.0 version of this cable, providing that your devices support that speed. For my Fingerprint reader USB 2.0 is fine. The base is made from textured plastic, shaped like a small pear and weighs about 70g so it doesn't slide off the desk like a regular USB extension would. The cable is an odd length at 5ft (which is about 140cm) but it's long enough to get from my desk to my PC so perfect for my requirements. It also seems well made with a relatively thick cable My only criticism is the large StarTech branding printed on one side of the base. It's not very subtle and I would have preferred that to be printed on the bottom of the base instead. If it bothers you it can be positioned to the far left of your desk so that it is less visible. Pros: - Decent quality - Weighted base (70g) that doesn't slide around easily - Perfect for USB Fingerprint readers, dongles, memory sticks etc. - Available in USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 variants Cons: - StarTech branding in big letters down one side which isn't very subtle
