If you're looking to have a way to contact your child and vice versa without going down the path of a phone yet, this watch is perfect. The parental controls are top notch. The parent downloads an app that allows them to text with their child and add approved contacts to the child's watch. The child can then text from a list of generic typed messages, or via voice message to those approved contacts. The child can also call and receive calls from the approved contacts. If anyone not in the contact list attempts to call the child's number, it is blocked. The watch never shows the call, but the parental app does! The app also shows the child's location. The contacts must have the app to utilize the text feature with the child's watch. There is also an SOS feature that I have not tested, because it hasn't been needed thankfully. As well as a "school mode" to avoid disruptions. The sound can be turned off, and different ring tones can be chosen as well. It truly is the perfect, safe, starter watch for any child.

UPDATE 1 month later: the watch has completely stopped working, so has the app. I can’t get in touch with anyone about it. Been this way for about a week. This product is absolute trash. Don’t buy it.————————————————————-I researched a ton of watches for kids and finally landed on this one.I’ve had it for 30 minutes and I already want to smash it with a hammer. I followed the steps exactly. Unfortunately the instructions are still for (I’m assuming) the x5, because the screen keeps telling me to insert the SIM card in a completely different location. It wont connect to our WiFi. I activated the watch with a plan, THEIR plan, and waited the suggested 60 minutes. It chimes every 30 seconds that there’s a system update. I can’t update it because it just won’t connect to the internet. I’m not even exaggerating, this thing chimes every 30 seconds, I can’t update it, and I can’t get rid of the notification. It’s infuriating.Update: my husband got the SIM card to work, by restarting it a bunch of times. But it still wont connect to our internet to do these miserable system updates.A few things to note:1. It only has voice call, no video call. I’m not sure why I thought it had video call, but it does not.2. Calls work through your normal phone calls, but you can only text through the app. If you send a text from your text messages it will not go through. The contacts have to be added by you, the guardian, through your app. So, anyone who wants to communicate with your child via text (like a grandparent or something) has to be added to their contacts, and has to do it through the app. This isn’t a complaint so much as observation. I do like that they can’t just call and text whoever they want.3. Xplora offers their own service plans. I was very excited to get it up and going and immediately purchased the 12 month plan not thinking about what I was doing. I didn’t want to spend the time going to T-Mobile and setting up a watch line on our account. I regret this. Xplora isn’t a huge company, certainly not as big as T-Mobile at least, their service leaves much to be desired. But now I’m locked in for 12 months. Take the extra time and set up the line with your service provider. I’ve seen warnings that it works with T-Mobile and that’s about it. All of the providers seem to have their own smart watch for kids so see what works best with whatever provider you have.4. My daughter has been playing with her watch this morning trying to get to know the features. It’s been about 30 minutes of pretty constant use, in our air conditioned home. It gave us a warning that the watch was getting too hot. I am very concerned that the watch will stop working if she goes outside in this 95° weather.To sum it all up: I would not buy this watch again, and I’d strongly discourage anyone else from buying it as well. I read that it was one of the best options out there though, so I’m not sure what direction to go in now.

Great way to be in touch with your kid. I got this because to be less concerned about where my daughter is and in case I need to talk to her. It is “closed” to message and call only the people I added in the app. The notifications I get on my phone are very useful. I also have access to her location and even set a safety zone where I get notifications when she in or out of that zone. Everything is working smooth and for now I am very happy with my decision to buy one.Setting up is where I would say that I had somewhat of a set back because when I was doing the first configuration I put my phone number instead of the number that was created for the watch. You just have to be a little patient because it might take about 20 min for the text to come with the number you will get for the watch. Otherwise it was fairly simple to set up.

The media could not be loaded.  My kid is not ready for a traditional phone yet, so this is good in regards to learning more about responsibility.Pro: You can contact them. The watch and app are made so it is completely parent controlled.Con: The tracking works, but there are bugs to work out. Live tracking so far does not really work. I gave it a try as my kid rode home on the bus from school. It did not update.

This is such a genius idea!!! so safe and reliable!!! I love knowing our daughter can have a watch that won’t fall off that she can keep with her and reach out to us anytime with any emergency! This watch is fantastic. It has so many cool features to get your kids off the couch, and I have some fun. You can control who they call and who they connect to. It is fantastic. As a mom of 8 I honed think this is such a perfect idea. We tested it out a few times when she went on her field trip. She was able to text us and give us updates throughout the whole experience. She even took photos with her watch. This is a must have for any parent!!! Phones get lost you have to put them down they get in trouble they’re not allowed to have them. The teachers did not even mind her having this watch at all. They thought it was a great idea.

i am in jordan . so it doesn't work with sim card from jordan , i cant use the call option , just the internet part , sending msgs and voice calls

Dank der Verwendung von GPS konnte ich präzise ihren Standort ermitteln: sie war gerade bei Rewe einkaufen und hatte die Uhr in der Handtasche und nicht am Handgelenk ;) Den SOS Knopf haben wir bisher Gott sei Dank noch nicht benötigt und demnach noch nicht ausprobiert.CONTRA:(1) Größe:Die Uhr ist leider etwas zu massiv (vor allem in der Tiefe/Dicke—> sie müsste dünner und leichter sein) für eine kleine schmale Kinderhand. Sie war eigentlich für meinen 5 1/2-jährigen Neffen gedacht (er ist noch sehr zierlich), aber dann haben wir sie meiner 74 Jahre alten Mama gegeben. Sie ist momentan gesundheitlich eingeschränkt und soll sich in Notfällen telefonisch melden können. Sie hat keinerlei Erfahrung mit Smartphones/Tablets/Computern, sieht und hört nicht besonders gut. My son loves this watch. He loves that he is able to communicate with me whenever he goes out with friends and I love how I can find his location. As a mom with a son who is on the spectrum and has an intellectual disability and unable to read or write this really helps build that independence and trust between both mother and son. It’s a great way to keep in touch without the use of a cellphone

Ho acquistato questo orologio per mio figlio, è molto leggero e davvero molto pratico, si può inserire una SIM per ricevere ed effettuare chiamate, per il prezzo che ha è davvero un buon prodotto, consigliato per quando magari i bimbi vanno in gita con la scuola o semplicemente sono fuori casa, va ovviamente collegato alla sua applicazione da istallare sul proprio telefono
