Review: It's almost like if American Gods was set exclusively in Japan and was more "anime" - You know that mystery character from American Gods that nobody can remember? Well what if you based a story around him and set it in Japan. How does a god that requires belief to survive, do so when nobody can retain their memories of him? I marathon bought and read all the books in this series to date after watching the anime. This is not something that I normally do so this series occupies a special place in that regard. It does that thing that I like of mixing the mundane nature of the normal world with the other-worldliness of the other. Readers of Neil Gaiman's work or fans of the Bakamonogatari series will know that vibe. I say give it a shot. Despite already knowing most of the story from the anime I do not regret buying and reading the story in the "original" format. Review: Five Stars - perfect volume

One of my favourite current mangas at the moment
This volume is mostly character driven and deals with identity. Several characters are finding their true identities, or selves, at least they seem to be doing so: Yato, Yukine and Hiyori. A mysterious element is added to the plot which meanders along until the ending where an intriguing and shocking reveal leaves us perplexed as to the meaning. One of my favourite current mangas at the moment!

Like many American readers, I first encountered Noragami by way of the anime. I loved the first season of the anime and was delighted when the manga was translated and published in the US. As of now, I feel like the series just gets better and better. At this point (Vol 7) we are just starting to learn some of the mysteries of Yato's past, and we are starting to learn a little bit about the truth identity of the Stray. Yato's relationships with both his shinki and his one devoted follower continue to develop. Since I myself am a Yato x Hiyori shipper, I'll just say that there are some really sweet scenes in this volumes, as well as some hilarious/horrible ones, and leave it at that. There was definitely a lot to enjoy. This volume provides closure on some issues, while opening up new questions. I can't wait for the next volume. Highly recommend this series to anyone who likes supernatural action, comedy, and romance.

It's Noragami. If you don't like it, what's wrong with you? Yato gets a great gift in this volume; one of his dreams comes true.
