It’s a lovely book and covers a number of styles. A lot of effort has gone into the presentation, but I do find it easier to use it in conjunction with the author’s youtube videos. My preferred learning style is to see something done, the book is useful to refer back to details.

This is a great book for people into book binding or wanting to learn. It has all the information necessary for various styles, good photos, and detailed instructions that will lead you to excellent results. It is not one of those books that shows you a gallery of art books or gives you ideas to make those; it's focused purely on book binding and it lets you progress quickly and understand how to apply the techniques to design and create perfect, beautiful books the way you want.

I wish I'd had this a year ago when I started bookbinding at evening class. I've been watching Chanel on her YouTube channel, Bitter Melon Bindery, since I started because she makes everything clear with simple explanations and no annoying music, and the book is no different. A fabulous resource for amateurs whether new or experienced. My Guild of Bookbinding tutor says he'll be recommending this book to all future students as its designed for Bookbinding at home, not for people with professional with access to fancy professional presses and cutters. So pleased she has written this. There is a bonus book for download too.

I pre-ordered the book so delays were expected. It didn't disappoint. The author has a YouTube channel for demonstrations and atmosphere while you work through the projects. This is well planned, well presented and easy to follow. I've made all the books and enjoyed the process.

Great book but was hoping for more complicated designs to be included in this book

This book is alright but there’s nothing in it that there isn’t on YouTube or Instagram from her or other bookbinders. It’s an overpriced repetition of her YouTube tutorials. You can actually get much more just watching her YouTube videos, they are definitely much more detailed.

Nice book with clear descriptions and photos. Great for beginners and shows current tools to use.

I really enjoyed this book and followed the instructions for the pamphlets, perfect binding and a basic hard cover binding. I would say you will still benefit from watching some YouTube videos to get an idea of what's taking place, but it's a great reference with wonderful photos and instructions. For me the one negative which doesn't affect the utility of the book is the quality of the book itself. The margins feel. It feels like the there is not enough top margin and the content feels squished at the top of the book. Also, the manufacturing, glue and printing smell was quite strong and it took some time for it to go away. That said, it is a lovely book and hopefully the second edition will be nicer quality print!

An excellent book with great pictures and detailed instructions. It’s beautiful and full of creative ideas. Love it in my collection.
