I recently purchased the Baboni Through-the-Wall Pet Door for my furry companion, and I couldn't be happier with the results! It was a great investment in both convenience and pet independence. This product review will outline my experience with the installation process and the overall performance of this fantastic pet door. However, it was a straightforward process, and the door fit perfectly in the designated space. A little about myself. I am a 59-year-old widow who always had a husband that did everything around the house. Other than hang a few pictures and paint a few walls, I’ve really not done any DIY projects before. The doggie door was quite an expense to have it installed so I decided to give it a try myself. I had quite a learning experience. I had the right attitude going in. I didn’t rush myself. I watched many YouTube videos that said it took an hour or an hour and a half. When I got to a point where I was stuck or didn’t want to continue any further. I just stopped and waited for later.. I didn’t put a time limit on this project. I took about 5 hours, including rereading and rewatching videos over 2 days to complete this install. No swearing or upsets occurred during this task 😁 I watch several different YouTube videos. They all had different points of view and good tips to each one. As I knew nothing about electricity, and how to find power cords behind the wall, I definitely was very careful when it came to cutting. Again, watching YouTube videos to determine which direction power cords were going was very helpful. I also made sure I had the right tools. I spared no expense as I realized I’m going to be doing a lot of DYII projects in the future. I used spray foam halfway through the install to seal the outside half from the inside of the wall prior to putting the inside door last. Yes I did this backwards. It happened to fit better that way this time. What was fortunate was I sprayed just enough spray foam to seal the back/outside door that it went just to the outside and filled the gaps between the vinyl and the doggie door just enough that you can feel it but not see it. That was quite by accident. I didn’t know I had sprayed enough to go outside, but so pleased that I can feel it with my fingertips and not see it . Then sprayed a bit more foam to seal the gap on the front side. Made a bit of a mess. Used Goo Gone to clean the sticky up. This is a quality door, the flaps fit perfectly into the metal framed. The magnetic strips create a good seal to keep unwanted rodents out. Not so strong that smaller dogs can’t get out. The sliding panel has a manual latch that must be used to catch and release the panels so the animals are unable to open the door without assistance. It can be locked in the open position while still in the panel slide position. This way the panel isn’t on the floor, leaning against the wall or separated and keeps it getting lost or separated from the rest of the door. It can be cleaned with soap and water, bathroom or kitchen spray cleaner. Easy to keep clean. Comes with one panel. Can purchase a second one separately. Price depends on the size of your doggie door. Measure several times, cut once.

The door was easily installed and is very well made. This door is replacing a plastic door. It will last longer and is far more secure.

Works well on the pet door that matches the size. This is an extra one so that we can close off the opening both inside the house and outside on the exterior wall. That is more insulating. Also, in case of wind or wildfire the interior wall is not exposed. Easy to install. I only wish that there was a catch on both sides so it wouldn't tilt when it is open. Merely an aesthetic issue. This is for a large cat; he is too big to use a 'cat door.' Haven't had it on the outside long enough to know about the paint durability, but since it is solid metal I expect it to last.

The additional metal door cover has a warp to it and when you try to slide it down the track to install it, it binds. If you get one of these, lay it flat on the concrete and if it’s stamped wrong, it will have a wobble. Looks like a manufacturing problem. Another thing I’ve noticed, when I bought the giant size Bamboni dog door, that the metal door cover with that one had a bend in the corner that was obviously a shipping damage. This door also had that, but I could bend that back to fix it. Not ideal, but the warp is a show stopper. Especially for $90.00! Edit on 4/7/23. To clarify, the actual dog door system is a 4 or 5. The metal closing panel is the problem. Bought two so both sides of the door are blocked. Keeps the dog from thinking they can push their way in from either side. Both had the corner flaw on the lipped edge that you use to remove the panel. One had a stamping flaw where it was so warped it had to be forced in the channel. Problem was handled by Amazon on the warped door, the other flaw I bent straight with some wide pliers and touched up with automotive white paint.

Perfect, exactly what I was after

Absolutely the best cold weather dog door product. Easy to install and works great. My cats and dogs use it all the time to go outside into their run. Keeps the weather out and the animals in when I close the locking door I purchased separately for the inside & outside. Well worth it. Petsafe needs to improve or be left behind, no comparison to this quality product.
