Budget brushes - premium quality
Absolutely fantastic brushes that feel like almost premium quality for a ridiculously affordable price. I’ve just started to get into watercolour painting after a twenty year hiatus and had never actually used real proper brushes to paint with, it’d always been the stupid rubbish quality brushes that came with whatever kids quality paint set I got. These felt akin to the kind of hair on my very expensive makeup brushes, so soft and silky but with the right densities or flexibilities depending on what I need. Haven’t needed to use every brush yet (as watercolour painting is quite a good cheap art where you don’t need a lot of brushes for painting with) but the ones I’ve used (I don’t know their “official” names - the fan brush, the fine liner, the big round brush, the wide flathead brush and the tapered flat brush) have given me so many unique strokes and effects. The flat tapered brush does brilliant grass effects and the wide flathead is brilliant for doing hair and waterfalls as it gives a sort of streaky effect with the watercolour paint. The fine liner is brilliant for fine detail and outlines if you have a very delicate hand but I suppose if it’s still too thick/full for you, you could always use nail scissors and clip some hairs off?I’ve seen maybe one or two hairs shed in total from the set but this could depend on the kind of painter you are, the medium you use and the way you treat them. I don’t leave them in water soaking while not using (so the bristles don’t bend or get ruined and so the ferrules don’t get ruined or the glue inside starts to disintegrate etc). I’ve also been careful to reshape my brushes while damp (when they’re damp after cleaning, just use your fingers to shape the tips back to how they were which I’ve heard will increase their lifespan and the way they perform. They all seem to hold water and colour well (depending on what the brush is) and rinse without clinging onto pigment that will muddy up other colours etc.Am very happy I went with this set, when I saw the price I was honestly a bit wary (for just over a fiver, how good could I expect this to be for good art), but the reviews said it was worth taking a chance on these, so glad I did. As a waterpaint novice, I’m getting some pretty nice paintings. If you’re just starting out, this set is a must have. I’d say even real professional artists would find these brilliant for the artist on a budget.

Amazing value
These brushes are professional quality at an amazingly low price. I use them for painting in oils and they are my first choice for all of my artwork. Highly recommended.

Basic brushes.
Basic brushes, loose fittings, wash ok and produce some interesting shapes. Recommend for beginners, but not for more advanced watercolour.Packaging basic, price low, hence quality somewhat questionable. Don’t expect them to last long as very loose attachment.
