MOST ILLOGICAL
I have a lot of sewing books and all the GBSB books but this one which arrived today it the weirdest book on sewing I have ever seen. It’s completely illogical in its layout. At the beginning on equipment , nothing about threads or needles and suddenly into overlock stitches but nothing on sewing machine stitches. The only zip is an exposed zip, then there’s a whole chapter on swimwear and elastics. All very strange. Some of the facts are incorrect too interlining is not for warmth always it’s for structure . All illustrations are line drawings - no actual photos. For upping your skills try the Readers Digest book or the Sewing Book I’ll keep the book it makes me smile as it’s so bad. I would have thought Quadrille press could have come up with something better.

Format is very small
I bought this and the companion book, The Skills, to catch up on more modern sewing techniques. They are both gorgeous books, but they format is far too small to be of use as a working test. Very nice hardback bindings, but the useful part of the pages is only A5 (half A4), making the illustrations very hard to see and the text tiny. I suppose making the book bigger will add to the cost, but it would make it infinitely more useable. I'm going to send them back and may buy the Kindle version so I can read it more easily. Disappointed, as I love Sewing Bee and don't often buy tie in books.
