Pretty cheap stuff
Pretty cheap stuff..... the crossover only works as high pass for the subwoofer. The bass is still sent to the speakers making them clip if they're not design to handle it. Tested it with a scope. The output wave is not very clean... Also the gain for the sub seems to be passive... with 8 ohms speakers and a 4 ohm sub... the speakers were still louder.... Also You need to use an external EQ because the one on that thing does nothing but garbage.... i guess you have what you pay for...

So I got this a while back but finally installed it. I have a Bluetooth audio receiver connected to my aux input for my car. My car is a bit older so the native Bluetooth only supports phone calls, not music audio. So I had to add a secondary Bluetooth receiver. While I know for sure that my BMW stereo system has pretty decent sound, the AUX audio input is rather flat. Pushing the bass and trebled only took it so far. My previous phone, a Galaxy S8, had some great sound processing that allowed me to add really good highs and lows and really widen the sound stage. Since switching to a Pixel 2 XL, I'd lost the ability to add this sound processing. I tried some alternative Bluetooth receiver that claimed to added some of this processing, but ended up disappointing with very weak and artificial sound processing. So I decided to go back to basics and try to add an EQ in hardware. Installing this unit was way easier than I had anticipated. It took about 15 min. I just wired a cigarette power plug to the ground and 12V and connected the remote direct to the same 12V, that way the EQ shuts off when the cars off. Aside from that, two RCA to phono 1/8 (headphone plug) cable to connect my Bluetooth receiver and my aux input. In my setup, I'm completely ignoring the sub and rear output. I was afraid that they would apply some crossover to these different inputs, but it turns out the front (and probably the rears as well) are full range. I was able to bump up the lows and highs comfortably and it sounds completely natural and without distortion. It was a weird solution to this problem, but it worked out really well and it all fits in my glove compartment. For less than $30, I can't believe this worked as well as it does. One additional benefit is that it adds a switchable Aux input to my setup.

Hit or miss??
Well The Equalizer did what I asked it to do I was attaching it to a factory head unit with an amplifier and needed to have more adjustments for sound control this was able to give me the Boost in bass that I was looking for since the factory unit lacked the option however I had to return my unit because I believe it was defective the auxiliary and Main in switch no matter how it was pressed the rear speakers always had sound going to them and sounded very odd the base did not hit it more popped when it was supposed to bump if that makes sense and also the RCA input and outputs seem to be very fidgety with connections you would have to spin it or wiggle it to get it to be solid without static and for some reason it is now 12 degrees outside and whenever I start my car the radio has barely any volume and absolutely no Bass until the internal cabin temperature warms up almost as if the equalizer is too cold to function properly I did not have that issue when I was just running the amplifier off of the stock unit so it's very hard for me to give a full review on a functioning product because I assume mine was defective because of these issues however like I said it was able to give me the extra controls I needed and the base I wanted off of a factory head unit with a 7 volt pre out

Great for no head unit install.
Very happy with this equalizer. I ran an RCA to 1/8 female stereo adapter so I could have an aux cord in the front. I play with the subwoofer volume and cutoff all the time to get the correct bass from different genres of music. The high mid and low stay at the default, sounds worse adjusting them either way. I run my phone to the input of this and have it connected to a four channel amp and a subwoofer. Great for a head unit less install, I run near the max volume for everything because of the low input voltage but it works great for me.

which is fine because the sub amplifier has a low pass filter ...
I use a Bluetooth phone audio output going directly to amplifiers for all the speakers instead of a deck, but the power of the Bluetooth unit was very, very low, limiting the speaker volume and clarity. I don't actually use the tone adjustments on this, it serves only as a preamp. As I was experimenting with the setup, I got a smell building up in the car, and somewhat muddy bass response. At least with my unit, the subwoofer output was heavily clipped and distorted, and also difficult to balance with the main speaker volume. The smell was one of the coils in the sub cooking itself, though my amp was nowhere near full rating of the sub. A distorted, clipped input can do that to any speaker. I worked around the problem by using the pass-through output on the amp I use for the four main speakers, because the sub amplifier has a low pass filter built in.Overall, this unit does what I need it to do and well, but in light of my experience, I'd advise anyone considering using the subwoofer output on this unit to make sure it has clean and clear sound first.

Up in smoke
Big improvement on a multi amp system. It separates sound so my speakers can go louder and stay clear. The subwoofer phase switch was the selling point for me but i dont like it on top and you need use a tool because its slightly below surface if it was on rhe front panel i probably would of rated 5 star also wish the lettering was illuminated. But now! Worked ok but interference when gain/volume is cranked up on the eq. Literally Burned up and quit working in 3months i mean smoke pouring out and all. Gonna purchase one more time because it did work nice but if it burns up again never getting anything SSL again

Very versital
I bought this to control my three amps, my sub amp and my rear amp and front amp. It is not a "graphic Eq" as advertised but a parametric Eq, that makes no difference in sound though! It does sound great and does not add any noise into the system. It is nice to be able to control not only the frequency but the volume of the sub amp as well. It is a nice quality unit especially for the price! The control knobs are a little small but once set I rarely ever touch them. The case is well built and has an interesting clear top panel that shows the circuitry inside, kinda neat but it really cant be seen once it's mounted, at least the way I have it mounted. This is the fourth SSL product I have purchased and I am very happy with the quality of all the units I bought. The prices are excellent for what you get! I bought three SSL "Evolution" amps as well and have ran them very hard for a long time, even at two ohm loads and they run cool and have never gone into protection even once. I will continue to buy from them as long as they keep their prices low!

Very nice EQUALIZER for the price it truly went above all ...
Very nice EQUALIZER for the price it truly went above all my expectations only thing that is useless is the plexiglass top so you can see the inside of it and the lighting will shine through it. But because of mounting the unit you can't see the top of the EQUALIZER plus I mounted mine into my console. I did a custom install and another thing the positive wire that comes with the unit is useless way under sized for a 12 volt electrical system I upgraded mine to 12 gauge wires and a 14 gauge ground wire. But everyone into stereo systems you will be very satisfied with this equalizer.

S4EQ-4
This equalizer was the perfect addition to my sound system. I had originally purchased the Cadence eq but the blue back light drove me crazy! The Cadence product was a seven band & I actually prefer the 4 band equalizer. 7 bands felt a little like overkill. The separate controls for the sub woofer is awesome giving you the ability to make instant adjustments depending on the type of music or quality of recording. The green back lighting is a perfect match with my dash lighting (2003 Kia Sorento) & I have a Kenwood X994 head unit that the color is adjustable so everything matches. My only gripe with the equalizer & it's a small one is the picture shows that the markers on each dial is back lit & they're not so you really can't see the dials at night. The rca outputs are 7V so you can turn the gains down on your amps & your speakers & subs will still play loud & clear. The 1/2 din size makes installation pretty easy but keep your dremel nearby. Bottom line is that this is an inexpensive but significant upgrade to any aftermarket sound system.

Great for small areas.
I just installed the eq and it works great sounds great and fit perfect on my motorcycle. It was easy to install and the price was right. I hope it will last
