Altus Platinum Magic Shade Standard Sunshade

I drive a bright yellow Volkswagen Beetle. The windows are huge! So to get a sun shade that worked for them, I had to go online and found them on Amazon Prime. These fit great and do the job perfectly to help keep my car cool during these California sunny days. They fold up easily and tuck right into the pockets behind our seats. No fuss! I like the look also - good colors and contemporary looking. Thank you Amazon Prime for allowing us to order online with free shipping. It saves many trips to the store and we can find exactly what we need for the moment.

The Amazon price for this shade is far superior than what I could find locally in stores. So I decided to try this product in Jumbo size based upon the overall good reviews. I have been using this product now for close to 10 months. Overall this product when it is first opened appears to be on the cheaper side of sun shades and I understand where others state they are disappointed about the thinness of the material. I tried to be optimistic about using it so I decided to try it and see if it worked. While the material is thin it does the job and that is what I require from a sun shade. It may not block 100% of my window but it blocks a good 80% of the sun from coming in so my car remains much cooler than if I used no shade at all. So for the small price I think it offers good value. So far this shade is not showing signs of age or deterioration. It is very easy to position every morning and because it is very light it easily stays in place when the sun shades are turned down to lock it into place against the windshield. It does take some coordination to close it properly but once you do it for a week or so it becomes second nature as long as you do not overthink it. Then it has an elastic band to lock it into the small circle footprint when it is folded. I can easily put it under my seat or on the side of it with it taking only minimal space when it is not in use. Is this product cheaply made? Yes. Does it keep the car cooler when it is in place? Yes. Is it easy to use? Yes. Has it lasted 10 months without signs of wear? Yes. So to me all of those Yes responses make this a 4 star product. If the product was thicker and just a little better made it would be a 5 star product and I believe would keep your car even cooler. For this price though strongly recommend you give it a try.

I bought these a bit afraid that they would not fit in my car...it seemed as if they could be bigger from reviews and such. I'd say my front windshield is prettly large, and these shades cover them perfectly. I don't even have to pull down the visors for them to stay in place! There are only a couple holes where sun enters, obviously since they have rounded corners, but I think does a great job. They them down and twisting to close is really fast and easy, and putting them up isn't a hassle either. They seem like they will last a while...if I were to need another pair, I would buy these again!Update: Wrote this review 4 years ago, and I still use the same original sunshade on my car everyday! Works well, and very easy to put up and take down.

My previous Jumbo Altus sunshade finally needed replacing, so I purchased this. Looks exactly the same; however, the dimensions were WAY off. The advertised dimensions are 28” x 31”, but in reality, the Jumbo shade is 29” x 32”, which makes it buckle under the rear view mirror and does not fit right. I also measured it against my previous shade and it is way off. I’m sure these are made in China or somewhere else, but do not depend on the dimensions being the same when you reorder. I’m buying another shade instead, more expensive, but probably better quality and sizing will hopefully be correct. I do not recommend this shade due to sizing errors.

These work great and will lower the car's temperature. My interior is charcoal gray with charcoal gray leather seats and was basically an oven before I bought these. As for twisting them back to store them, I was twiddling and fiddling for around ten minutes and felt like a tard until I went onto Youtube and watched some 10 year old kid do it. The comments there were priceless. It takes literally 5 seconds to fold it up and put it away. Well worth the purchase.

I bought this because it folds up, and takes less room than the shade screen I bought from Honda, for my Honda Fit. This says Jumbo, so I figured it would work fine, but it's too small. Didn't even come up to the sun-visor. I gave it to my daughter though, so it didn't go to waste, but still wish I could find one, this style, for my car. Took a while to get the knack of folding it, but after a few trys, it worked fine.

As I understand it, this product is either made of silver fabric or mylar. I understood that when I ordered these, but I hoped that ordering two sets would yield at least one mylar set (it didn't), and I thought the cloth ones would be satisfactory. They're not.This shade appears to be the same model as my nearly 10-year-old set, but it is MUCH less effective at blocking light and heat. Since I'm too lazy to return one or both sets of shades, I've taken to putting a third shade in the windshield for improved opacity, and a fourth shade in one of the side windows. This marks a significant improvement over doing without, but I'm definitely not pleased with this product.Also, I have no idea what the black stripes are for. They are slightly shiny, but I'd rather have good reflective fabric across the whole outside surface.Pros:- Good size- Folds easily (better than the old set)- When I try retrofitting these with better fabric, I won't feel bad about tearing up something that already worksCons:- Doesn't do what it's supposed to do.
