JakarAluminium Watercolor Easel

Love this easel. It is lighweight, very easy to set up, easy to transport, sturdy enough (nice feet), tilting capacity, well built, compact size when folded, with a shelf that you can easily modify adding a new one, as I did (a wooden one custom made), by just hang it in the right place reserved for this purpose (I assume and, if not, it fits very well anyway). This is the best easel I have, among many others, for outdoor watercolour painting(easel addict I am, so forgive me my wallet). By reviewing an item I try to be as objective as possible (if it's possible, based on subjective opinion), because as a buyer I like the get some help from "objective" reviews, but as always, where I see an advantage you might see a disadvantage or simply qualify it differently. This easel was delivered quickly and well packed. It comes with a neat carrying case that you can sling over your shoulder. It was easy to assemble and does what I wanted. It can be used full height, on the ground or as a table easel. I don’t know how how sturdy it is as I’ve only used it once, indoors. As it’s so lightweight, this could be a problem outside, on uneven ground but I wanted something light to carry and this certainly is. I suppose you could weight it with something when outdoors, to make it more stable.

I have not used this easel yet so cannot say how sturdy it will be when putting pressure on it, using pastels, or outside in windy conditions. For the latter, it should be easy enough to hang a weight (e.g. a bag) from it to increase its stability, as you would do with a camera tripod. I am very impressed so far with the ingenious construction and assembly.Assembling it was straightforward with the enclosed instructions. It isn't in separate pieces which need putting together. You just have to work out which way to turn and align the different parts before they are tightened in place. The parts for securing the leg extensions in place, although plastic, seem sturdy and they engage positively.It folds up neatly without dismantling to get it into the bag (which is included), together with the extra ledge which clips on easily and which is very useful for holding any pastels or paint brushes currently in use.It says lightweight but it is heavier than Jakar's other model which does not tilt.UpdateHaving now used the easel, I find the main drawback is the difficulty in applying pressure when using pastel. I use various types of pastel paper mounted on a sturdy board but the easel is not very stable whether indoors or outside. The only way round this problem is to hold the board with one hand while applying pastel with the other. Perhaps this is less of a problem when using brushes and paint.

This is a great lightweight easel. I looked at quite a few before deciding on this one. It is very easy to put up and feels very sturdy although I have not used it outside as yet. It folds up quite small and comes with a nice little bag. There is also opportunity to hang a water bucket from the rigid canvas holder using an 'S' link. Very pleased with it.

Good easel, lots of height options and can tilt and also lay flat. I've not used it for plein air, but each leg is adjustable so should handle ok. The bag looks to be a good strong quality. Though this is sold as a watercolour easel it doesn't have a flat plate/shelf so you will need a board to attach your paper to. I think Jakar marketing this as a watercolour easel ought to really have provided it with a flat plate/shelf. Would be great if you could buy attachments, maybe there are some but I havent found them anywhere yet. And at this price it could benefit from having a rotating head option too. But overall I'm happy enough with it.Notes:*There are TWO height adjustments on each leg. (took me a while to realise this) So if you think this isnt quite reaching the height you imagined look for that other height adjustment on the leg.*I've used a large board as a back plate/shelf. I then lean my work (gatorboard with attached paper) onto this so I can quickly pick it up and rotate as needed, other than keep unlocking the canvas grips to remove work.Also mine was set wrong, when the easel was up and set to the flat painting option, it was positioned over the back leg instead of out/over the front legs (enabling free space below). Just release and push it back the other way. (hope this is clear to understand?) Though perhaps for plein air it might be sturdier over the back leg?

Love this easel. Tried en plein air for the first time a couple of weeks ago using a Derwent wooden compact easel. Was a real faff to set up and so didn’t want to use it again. Looked at reviews and this Jakar easel cane out scoring very high.It does everything you would ever need. Can be used as desk top of studio inside or out and head tilts so you can use it flat for watercolours too. Much quicker easier to erect than the wooden one I had and more stable too. Easy to transport too as it’s lightweight aluminium and you can pop it into its carrying case and carry it over your shoulder.I’m impressed and very pleased with my purchase.Also the delivery was ultra fast !! Next day exactly as promised.Will definitely recommend this seller and use again in the future.Great product great price and great service .. 10/10

I am about to retire and get back into painting & drawing. We live in a one bedroom flat where space is at a premium and therefore this product is perfect for my purposes. It can be set up and/or packed away in minutes. it has multiple positions to which it can be adjusted so it beats your traditional wooden easel hands down. It is sturdy and will be ideal for both indoor and outdoor use and so lightweight it will not bend my "old" bones carrying it about.

Easy to set up. Very sturdy. Weight is just fine. Attached photo is from the box it came in. As described it tilts from vertical to horizontal very easily.

Dalle condizioni della scatola si nota che il prodotto è stato aperto in precedenza.È impossibile montarlo in quanto mancano dei pezzi, che ho dovuto trovare personalmente. Non avevo tempo per rimandarlo indietro, quindi ho dovuto metterlo a posto io. Anche adesso sembra molto instabile e si inclina sempre verso la sinistra.Uno dei miei motivi per comprarlo era per usarlo come un cavalletto sopra un tavolo come ha detto che può essere usato. Sfortunatamente siccome l'angolo non dev'essere troppo per acquerello, sarebbe impossibile usarlo sopra un tavolo.Non lo consiglio.

Me ha gustado mucho el producto: es ligero, buenos materiales... Muy util para acuarela porque permite poner el soporte del papel en cualquier inclinación con facilidad. De lo que he visto para trabajar la acuarela tanto en interior como exterior, el que más me ha convencido.

Le colis est arrivé dans un emballage Amazon intact, dans cet emballage il y avait une autre boîte contenant le chevalet mais cette boîte présente des trous causés par des chocs.Donc pour offrir c'est compromis.Il est clair que c'est chez Amazon, avant l'emballage que le colis à été endommagé et c'est regrettable que Amazon laisse passer de telles choses.
