Big improvement over older Sky Router
If you've been using the old style Sky modem router (SR101/2) you'll know it's a very limited device in 2019, featuring obsolete single band 802.11n with no 5GHz radio. The Wifi experience with that device was not good at all! I mostly just used the wired ports, but even those were only 100Mbps. Recently I started making more use of WiFi for some in home streaming, and couldn't believe how bad the experience was, with constant interference and stuttering etc. I considered just plugging in a new router to the Ethernet ports on the SR102, but then found this listing here on Amazon and decided to give it a go. The results are dramatic to say the least! This router is a HUGE upgrade over the old one, with far better and more consistent wireless transfer speeds due to the change to wireless 802.11AC standard. Even the Ethernet ports are faster as they are now Gigabit standard. May be subjective but in my opinion, the router also looks way nicer! Only downside is that it only has 2, rather than 4 Ethernet ports. Not an issue for me, but appreciate that it may be for some. Also worth considering it's very unlikely that you'll get a better overall download speed from the internet using this router, but that's not really a fault with the product! Setup was beyond simple, literally just disconnected plugs and wires from the old unit and connected this one. WiFi network details will need to be reset (ie name and password) but that's all. If you have the old style Sky router, you most definitely need to upgrade!

Useful upgrade from basic hub
Had Sky for years but they never upgrade anything unless you take on a more expensive contract, so still had the original single frequency hub. Saw this and thought I'd try it, and I'm no tech wizard so needed to be simple. As mentioned elsewhere, it was plug in and go. It did go offline once the first evening but never since, so may have been doing a software update or similar? Now operating on dual frequencies. I did follow advice on another review and changed the ID and password to my old one, once I'd read how to do it. Saved resetting all the stuff in the house. Seems to give a consistent connection, had it about a month and no complaints from family, smart TV also works well.

Duel channel best option sky fibre
I discovered that wireless keyboards and mice were killing my internet due to being on 2.4 gh signal and the sky hub 2.0 only done single channel . Having looked at after market items like net gear I decided to go with this unit as it was plug in and no changes required . Item cane within 5 hours of hitting the button plugged straight in now further set up . Went in to the hub server through a browser and changed to duel channel and made a 5gh signal . My inter net jumped 15 mbps and no frequency issues at all . Please note everyone that please check your devices and pc WiFi card and make sure it can receive 5gh signal . I deal with loads of tec stuff and can honesty say that this is the best value for money on amazon for duel channel broadband . Massive thanks to sky for making a product that will last for years in relation to signal out put . Note look at the sky web site and speak to them first because some sky q deals are great and they could offer you an upgrade with included this unit for free but when I done the math over 2 years it was an extra £275

Far better than old sky hub, if it worked
Sky Does have a serious problem with it’s Q hubs ( continual broardband drop out) don’t take my word for it , google sky q drop out THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT YET !!!! However when it works WiFi is much faster than my old sky hub 30+mbps compared to5mbps .... broardband connection did drop out after 3/4 of an hours use , this was due to software upgrade I presume , no problems since ......ok here we are again , continual broardband dropouts , I’m changing rating from 5 stars to 1 star , this is not the suppliers fault but they haven’t answered my email . I’ll call sky tomorrow and if they don’t resolve the problem I shall cancel all my Sky , tv, phone and internet and move to virgin or go back to the old hub disconnecting WiFi and installing a netgear orbi mesh system that will definitely fix the problem , it being a very expensive fix though . The moral of this story is , STAY WELL AWAY FROM SKY Q because it’ll drive you mad

SkyQ router
I wanted 5ghz wifi and its what I got, what I did do is that I went into the router's settings via a browser and changed my ssid and passcode to what I currently have, I also turned off the sync settings and changed the secondary 5ghz signal to its own name so I could see it on my phone, that way I can tell devices what to sign to. All works just need some where to put it ;)
