I have purchased many solar lights over the past 8 years, so I have a good deal of experience with their shortcomings as well as their strengths. These Kooper lanterns are by far the most reliable and realistic flame type of any others I have purchased over the years. Beyond that, the lighting duration is amazing even on partly or totally overcast days they still give many hours of light. Even during Winters low and diffused sun they continue to provide long hours of light when all my other solar lights have gone dark. All 8 of my lanterns are still functioning after 2 years of continuous operation with their original battery's. The reasonable pricing makes these lanterns a no brainer for anyone looking for a flame type solar light. I am not paid for this review, I'm simply stating my experience as a consumer.

Very nice. For the price, much better construction than I expected. Sat them under a table lamp to charge for about 5 minutes, picked one up to show my wife, covered the solar cell and it turned on. Instructions say to have set "ON" to charge. Don't miss this. Made of plastic ends with sides metal, again pretty sturdy. The hanging clip is sufficiently strong; I plan to hang them under a deck umbrella. Tried in a dim room. The flicker is nice. These lamps are not going to provide a lot of illumination, but are more for mood effect. Don't know how long batteries will last. If they are similar to the lights on top of our rail posts they will burn from twilight till about 5 in the morning with a full charge. I think 3 of them hanging under our 13' and 1 under the 4' umbrellas will look pretty nice.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I bought 8. These are very nice lanterns. While not bright enough to read a book by, they provide decent lighting for my backyard firepit area and look great. I agree with all the positive comments others have made. My one concern is longevity. Like most solar lights, these use an AA NIMH rechargeable battery, in an application where they rarely get fully charged during the day but completely discharged most nights - a recipe for certain early failure. The batteries in these units are soldered in, not plugged in, so the option for refurbishing these units will be somewhat expensive & overly complicated.

Wanted a good replacement for current solar lights and these are awesome. No more batteries and even with it being winter and sunlight some days lacking the lights shine bright for hours at night. The material is plastic, as opposed to our old metal units will stand up to the weather better. The six pack was perfect as it gives us several extras should one be damaged by the weather. Best yet the flame at night look warm and inviting on the patio. Highly recommend.

Well made, easy to set up, charge before using, be sure to turn the switch on at the bottom of the lantern before charging, looks great at night! Reasonably priced for a set of 4! Very satisfied with the purchase! Arrived quickly!
