Omron GentleTemp 720 Contactless Thermometer

This is a really good thermometer it stays on as it tells you the temperature of the room it is in all the time I noticed this as I leave it in my son's bedroom, I check my son's temperature before I go to bed and it is very accurate, it is great value for money has a good battery life as it still has the batteries in that it came with. I was very dubious about buying this after reading reviews but I'm so happy I didn't listen to them now and went ahead and brought it anyway as it's probably the best thermometer I have ever brought, I definitely recommend it.

Bought this 3 years ago and I did use it handful of times and I was not satisfied of accuracy at all. Today, I found it in the back of my bedside cabinet. Of course, it did not work so I decided to change the battery first time. I cannot open the battery cover! You have to unscrew tiny screw to open the battery cover and I am using screw driver for the glasses but the screw is so soft and is fixed so tight , I lost the head after 30 minutes of endeavour. What a waste of money.. . I am genuinely shocked of poor performance and poor quality of this thermometer from Omron. I think I throw it in the recycle bin this time rather than keeping in my bedside cabinet. Money completely wasted and I am so disappointed! My first One star review.

Overall good thermometer, but few things to consider 1. Keep it in the room which isn't cold or extremely hot. When you receive your thermometer it will need to settle down in the room temperature first before you can use it, otherwise the reading will be off. 2. You can turn it off by pressing on/mem button until OFF shows on the screen although even when turned off it will shows the room temperature. 3. Some people mentioned that when they tried to do multiple readings straight after first one, they got errors and had to wait several minutes which is not true. What you have to do after 1st reading is to press on on/mem once and then you can do another one again, and so on. I tested it against the Braun Thermoscan 7 and temperature is almost identical which gives me assurance of the quality. I purchased it as sometimes especially when child have an ear infection it's good to check temperature another way.

The Omron is a fantastic device that takes your temperature without even touching you with infra-red. I have no idea how it does this, but it appears accurate enough when comparing the ambient temperature measurement to other devices such as my digital reading wall clock. I put this in a slightly cooler box and the temperature reading did fall about 0.3 celsius vs the ambient room temperature. Hardly super scientific, but it met the expected ranges. The product looks friendly enough. It's a nice solid moulded piece of glossy plastic with a durable protective cap. The display is nice and large. Very readable. The fact there are only 2 buttons that do everything from changing settings and turning off the device mean that some functions and modes that a while to learn and the unit requires you to hold a button for over 5 seconds to turn off. Taking measurements is super easy. You simply hover the head of the device towards the item you want measured. I placed it close to my forehead and it beeped and displayed my measurement instantly. I'm sure you can do the same across a variety of things. Baby's milk temperature for instance is something the manual describes can be measured. Along with surfaces that I imagine have an even temperature throughout. Once turned off the unit functions as an ambient temperature sensor. This isn't something you can turn off without removing the batteries and should only use less battery than a digital LCD clock (my LCD clock with temperature lasts about 8 years+ on a new battery). Making it useful to just have around.

I choose this temp gauge because of the well known brand in the NHS tool kit. Only thing I'm disappointed with is the audio bleep. You really have to listen out for it. It's so very very quiet. Don't know if it's just mine, or others the same. Can't see the point in muting the bleep, because it's do difficult to hear anyway. Other than that, feels great,and accurate.

Firstly it arrived with a very low battery that needed replacing within a couple of days, which was quite annoying as it takes a coin battery that I didn’t have and had to source, the new battery has only been in pfor 5 days and it’s already hovering back and forth between 1 and 2 bars on the battery meter, so it seems to be draining battery much quicker than I would expect, trouble is you can’t manually turn the thermometer off and the auto off function doesn’t really switch it off, it says OFF then it switches off briefly before coming back on and constantly displaying the room temperature, this unnecessary drain would probably account for the flat battery on arrival, a thermometer is something you keep in the cupboard until it’s needed, I don’t have much faith in this now as I can’t trust that it will have sufficient battery power when I’ll next need it, contacted Omron support to ask whether it was meant to be like this or if there was a setting to just have it off rather than have the thermometer function and they stated this is how it’s meant to be, when I then asked roughly how long the battery should normally last they failed to respond. I would not choose this one again

Very disappointed with this product, it has a poor user interphase and overall build quality is mediocre. For this amount of money I would have expected something better. I would not recommend to buy this digital thermometer from Omron

Excellent produit Serait parfait si il était rechargeable .

Funciona bien y es fácil de usar, el precio es un poco alto pero no he tenido problemas de medición y es muy rápido. Únicamente hay que secar bien la zona de medición si se está sudando mucho

Auf der Suche nach einem neuen und nicht allzu teuren Fieberthermometer bin ich auf den Gentle Temp 720 von Omron gestoßen. Ich war von seinem schlichten und hochwertigen Design sofort begeistert, doch es kommt ja nicht aufs Aussehen, sondern auf die Funktion an.... DasThermometer ist kinderleicht zu bedienen und liegt sehr gut in der Hand. Man zieht einfach das Isolierband aus dem Batteriefach und wartet einen kurzen Moment ab. Nach ca. 1 Minute wird die Raumtemperatur auf dem kleinen Display angezeigt und man kann mit der ersten Messung sofort starten. Dazu einfach kurz die "On / MEM" Taste drücken und warten bis die angezeigte Raumtemperatur verschwindet. Danach dasThermometer an die Stirn halten und die blaue "START"-Taste drücken. Nach kurzem Drücken erklingt ein wirklich sehr leiser Piepton, damit wird signalisiert, dass die Messung beendet ist und man kann sofort die Temperatur auf dem beleuchteten Display ablesen. Ein Vorteil dieses Gerätes ist auch die Summerfunktion, welche man vor der Messung einstellen kann. Dazu einfach kurz die "ON / MEM" Taste drücken, bis das Symbol des Lautsprechers durchgestrichen ist. Diese Funktion ist vor allem nützlich, wenn man Kindern im Schlaf die Temperatur messen möchte. Sie werden dadurch in ihrem Schlaf nicht gestört, denn es ertönt kein Piepton. Ein weiterer Vorteil des Thermometers ist die vorhandene Speicherfunktion. Es werden die letzten 25 Messungen automatisch gespeichert und man kann die Temperaturschwankungen genaustens verfolgen. Zum Ausschalten des Geräts einfach die "ON / MEM" Taste drücken, bis "OFF" auf dem Display angezeigt wird. Ihr dürft euch allerdings nicht wundern, denn dasThermometer schaltet sich nie komplett aus. D.h. die aktuelle Raumtemperatur wird immer auf dem Display des Thermometers angezeigt. Fazit: Modernes, einfach zu bediendendes Stirnthermometer für Jedermann!!!!
