"Brilliant" Works with Moto G7 Plus Phone For Updates and Internet.
So here's the scoop on this brilliant little device from "Plugable Technologies". I spent a lot of time researching as to whether the Moto G7 Plus phone would be compatible with a ethernet adapter. Emailing both Lenovo and Motorola to see if they could give any answers. They tried to help but there was no concrete answer as to which brand of ethernet adapter. Their following answer from Motorola,as follows: verbatim. "Following our conversation yesterday, we have done more testing and this is just to let you know that unfortunately our Motorola devices do not support Ethernet adapters. Therefore we cannot guarantee it will work although there may be occasions where it works with certain adapters. Sorry this is not the answer you were looking for". So this left me having to order five different brands of ethernet adapters with type C connection. Out of the five "Plugable Technologies" USB Type-C Ethernet Adapter came up trumps as a winner and keeper. Considering the Motorola G7 family of phones (G7,G7 Play,G7 power,G7 Plus) share the same Qualcomm snapdragon processors, albeit vary different speeds for the different G7 phones.I cannot see why the Plugable Technologies ethernet adapter would not work in any of the other three models. So simple to use, just plug it in and away you go.Just make sure to turn off your "Data Usage" first,so your not using that instead. Then you're good to go. You do not need to turn on "Airplane Mode" either beforehand. At the time of writing this review our phones show the following information: 1. Android version: 9 (Pie) - All Moto G7 Phones come with Android 9 Pie out of the box 2. Current version: PPWS29.98-111-9 3. Qualcomm Snapdragon SDM636 Processing Chip I particularly need to use a plugable ethernet adapter to do our phone updates and app updates. As both my wife and i have severe sensitivity to Wi-Fi radio waves.Which cause us real physical illness. I hope this honest and independent review can help others, particularly those who also suffer from Wi- Fi sensitivity or health related problems from exposure to it. Now you can finally use an ethernet adapter for a hard wired RJ45 ethernet cable.Fantastic :0)

Works with OPNsense/pfSense
Purchased to use as a console port on a mini PC running OPNsense 24.1 / FreeBSD 13.2 to avoid using one of the 4 onboard ports for this purpose. It was recognised immediately after plugging it in and I had no problems setting up the interface in OPNsense. Works great.

Works with Moto G7 and G9. No faff.
Plugged it into USB-C port on a Moto G7 Power. Plugged ethernet cable in at the other end... and it connected immediately. No setup. No ap to load. No faff. Same with a Moto G9: it just worked. Perfect for overcoming bandwidth/connection issues in video calls. Note that the makers provide a list of phones that it will work with. G7 was on the list. G9 wasn't on their list but it works anyway. If your phone isn't on the list (and isn't a G9) then check if anyone has had success on that make of phone before buying.

Awesome product - check for compatibility
Amazing adapter. Delighted with it. It's taken me a while to get round to testing - waiting for broadband to be installed. For someone who is EHS and wishes to stay connected, this product is essential. Thank you Plugable also for the fantastic customer support. The agents I've contacted clearly care about the innovative Plugable products and customer experience. 10/10.

Do your research
This works perfectly with Google pixel 3 XL. I did a fair amount of research as ethernet usb-c adaptors can drastically differ in quality and effectiveness. I understand this device will work with some smartphones, but not all. It is important to check whether your device is listed as compatible. I found a post online that confirmed this device works with pixel 3 and the type of chipset used in this adaptor.

This adapter is wonderful! I managed to get full wired speeds as well as full access to my internet connection on a Nexus 5X smartphone. It was a clear proof how WiFi does not manage to give all the bandwidth one pays for in their internet bill. It also worked with my PC (Ubuntu 64 bit) using a converter to USB type A. I look forward to using this with my still being shipped Zenbook Pro.

I have been trying different Ethernet to USB C adapters to be able to run my Moto G7 Power directly from my router. Working to keep WiFi radiated energy low when I sleep. I tried a Belkin adapter but no go, even though it did work on my laptop. However, when I connected the Plugable adapter the phone and my Lenovo TAB10 both connected in a couple of seconds. So far, my research has indicated few adapters that will work properly with older and newer phones and tablets, although this is not to say there are not others. As a bonus, the Ethernet connection is quite a bit faster than the WiFi connection and it automatically shuts off the WiFi connection. I haven't found a selection on either of my devices that let's me monitor the connection, my research indicates that some phones and tablets have that ability. You can tell you are connected on newer phones by looking at the upper right top of the device where you will see an icon that looks like this <-->, to arrow heads with 3 dots (not dashes, couldn't do dots here) between them that indicates you are connected to your router via a direct Ethernet connection. Older/other phones may show different connection icons.
