Showbiz Kids - The Best of Steely Dan
G**K
A Supreme 'Best of' 'Best Of' Collection for Your Delight.
Showbiz Kids - The Best of Steely Dan was by far the best buy. It was one of the cheapest, a double CD and each of the Steely Dan 'LPs' was selected and about three of the tracks from each included. Now for me the beauty of this selection is that all the main well known tracks are included BUT you get to discover the lesser know gems that the Dan produced. The central duo of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen were joined by some of the finest session musicians out there and Becker and Fagen were perfectionists honing the tracks until they were just right. So we get to discover some really great hits and some outstanding other tracks.Don't believe me? Just Listen to 'Dirty Love.' and that is the tipof the ice berg. The trouble is or should that read pleasure? Is that I am now forced by my love of this great music to seek out all their catalogue of music. If you know and love Steely Dan don't you just envy my discovery?

Music for Dudes?
Oh my goodness...here I am, in 2015, writing a review of stuff written and recorded back in the dark ages ('72-'80), when artists slogged for years, writing, touring, living on the edge, slowly but surely becoming recognised for unique and lasting talent.I hate to admit that Messrs Fagen and Becker weren't on my immediate radar back in the day, although they were always there. You were considered a "dude" if you followed them, and I obviously wasn't, preferring more home-grown bands. I do, however, remember hearing Haitian Divorce, and the roll-up dropping out of my mouth as my jaw hit the floor. So here we are, 43 years later, and this collection of 33 works of art from 8 years of creativity is available. Throw in the contributions of guest pals like Larry Carlton and Mark Knopfler, and it's a collector's no-brainer.Have I become a "dude" at my age? Well, if the weird tingles on the back of my neck mean anything...

Best band in the world
I misplaced my copy of this album, hence the re-order, what can I say this is my favourite band, every track a gem, I saw them when they first toured here in UK in 1974 and have seen them every time, recently at Wembley Arena. You will not be disappointed almost every classic is included here, buy now!

Show Biz Kids - The biz, kids!
For all of the dyed-in-the-wool, die-hard fan (or even the first-timer, those braving themselves prior to testing the water)Show Biz Kids, the latest Steely Dan compilation is a must-have acquisition. Choc-full of timeless classics, all first seven albums covered since Don and Walt first ventured into the music world, with thier innovative jazz-rock sound and style, in order to display the Dan's originality a mesmerizing selection from each has been included. Donald Fagen's lyrical dexterity faultless throughout, Walter Becker's guitar excellence compliments those lyrics to the full. On the subject of lyrical content, for those turned-on by the written word one can only drool copiously over the Dan's imaginative story-telling ability. Once in the realms of Third World Man (Gaucho, 1980), I defy any listener not to become swept up in the scenario, said listener not becoming the boy Johnny in the sand-filled bunker he knew as a play-room; or seeing themselves as Kid Charlemagne (The Roral Scam, 1976), the best in town toiling by candlelight in the fast-paced urban sprawl of San Francisco; and just by closing ones eyes, isn't that Josie (Aja, 1977), the pride of the neighbourhood down on the beach whilst everyone around throws down the jam until the girls say when? And that's to name but a few, incidentally. The list is endless from the thirty-three masterpieces (how easily one can be mentally transported into whatever place and time - trust me; by listening to Show Biz Kids it truly is!) The whole ensemble of what the Boys have produced on this latest offering serves as a constant reminder of thier true genious. The pairing altogether diverse visually (especially in days of yore; take a look at the inlay on Countdown To Ecstacy, and the photograph therin!), the keystone for a band of otherwise sessionists (Joe Sample's electric-piano on Third World Man? Yowzaa!) have compiled, as has already been said, a double-disc that epitomises what a superlative musical talent the guys actually are. If you purchase nowt else - then rush out and hand over your readies for this baby...you will not be left disappointed!
