Bates Men's Tactical Sport 2

For reference - I typically wear between a 6.5 and 7 and have normal to a bit wide feet... so I am not true to a specific size. I bought a 6.5 and have room for a normal sock, my toes have wiggle room but are not swimming around. I can feel both sides and the top of the toe box if I wiggle my toes. There is one spot on my ankle that seems to press in hard, but I am sure that with an adjustment of the laces and a little "breaking in" time, the spot will go away. The shoe has decent padding on the bottom... cushy but not springy like an athletic shoe. I do hike a lot, but would mostly wear this boot working on the farm, hence the toe guard is a necessity. I can imagine these would also be nice to hike in after they are broken in a bit since they are on the stiffer side. For hikers for reference - I tend to like Merrell or Keen and get the soft side hiking shoe. These are significantly stiffer than those brands. Regarding the color. I bought Coyote Brown and they have an olive drab tone to the leather parts and the mesh inserts are definitely and deep olive brown tone. They have an overall "military" color to them, which I don't mind at all but they are not at all what I could consider a "brown" boot. Overall, VERY happy with them and I can tell that they will last years.

I felt a little jealous that I didn’t get these boots. My wife lucked out and she’s helping me with the review. We do a fair amount of hiking in and around our home near Yosemite. We both need hiking boots for summer and winter. While these boots are not strictly speaking, hiking boots, they are touted as athletic boots. We will see how my wife likes these. He first comment was that these boots make her look ‘cool’, and she felt ready for action. These are very good quality boots, with attention to detail in the construction. The boots have sturdy stiff toe protection and prominent rubber soles. They offer comfort and protection on rocky trials. The Size 6 fits her well in the width and length, but she said the heel area was a little loose. She’ll try wearing the boots with either thicker socks or double socks. The boots have moisture wicking lining that prevent water from soaking through during her hikes in the snow. My wife said it has a good connection between her feet and the ground. She gave this a 5 even though the heels are roomy on her.

Boots are very hot, do not breath well. Still stiff after wearing for quite awhile. Tread is very good

Could've been quite a comfortable pair to lug around this fall-winter, but I've found the forefoot and the steel toe box area is too narrow, too tight for my feet. The insole cushions is good, very soft, but a bit loose, so it's like narrow toe box - wide heel cup kind of thing, IMO.

I work outside often and I love to get out into nature, so a good pair of hiking boots is always welcome in my closet. These boots fit my feet well and true to size, and though they feel a little stiff they're breaking in nicely, as any good boot should. These shoes have good support inside, and well as at the ankles, which I appreciate when I'm on rougher terrain. They're a little heavy, but I like that in hiking boots- it gives me a better sense of balance and stability. The treads grip the ground well, and these boots are comfortable for me to wear for hours after breaking them in. These boots seem and feel very tough and well made, and I'm quite happy with these. Good: -Comfortable fit. -Slip and oil resistant with safety toe. -Good quality. Bad: -I would prefer no tie laces or a zipper for easier on and off. I ordered the Bates Women's Tactical Sport 2 Combat Boot, Coyote Brown. I wear a size 5 in women’s or size 2 to 3 in kids and selected size 5. I like the fit and removable insole. I like that the boots are supportive and have good boot tread. Overall, I like that this boot works well on various surfaces including our gravel driveway and I find them to be practical for my daily outdoor activities.

These are some serious boots. My husband wore something very similar in Afghanistan. I like these because they are not as tall as the ones he wore. This boot is quality made and feels good on my feet. I would have no problem taking a hike in these boots. The side material allows them to breathe. The bottom of the boot is strong and grips well. The color is nice and the price for this professional boot is reasonable.
