An INTENSELY BRIGHT red laser
For full info, I've already got this in the GREEN LASER color, and that unit is even brighter than this one. The intensity of that green beam is high that the beam can be seen by the naked eye... not just the point it hits, but the path of the beam in the air, I mean. It's stunningly bright, and intense enough to actually pop a balloon after a few seconds of "dwell time" on the balloon surface. This red version isn't quite that brilliant, but it's still far, far more intense than the typical red laser commonly used for pointers or "cat toys." It won't pop a balloon... at least I couldn't make that happen... but the beam from it IS visible in the air (albeit less so than the green one is). These are excellent for long-range "pointers"... for just one example, for illustrating to other people where, on a building, a particular feature is... but the intensity is far, far too bright for use as a "pet toy." The beam, if it were to hit an eye even BRIEFLY, could blind that person or animal... and even the reflected light from the point of "impact" can dazzle your eyes.So... the vendor ships these with an interesting "toy" item... a prismatic device which splits the beam into many, many smaller beams. Twisting the tip alters the arrangement of one layer of prism and a second layer, so the points can follow a fascinating pattern swirling from a series of single points to each point "exploding" into smaller points, then drawing together again. This "starfield diffuser" (as I refer to it) reduces the intensity of each individual point to approximately what the typical "cat toy laser's" intensity would be. However, with so many points, it's far more likely to hit someone or some animal's eye, so even when used this way it's still not a great idea to use it as a "cat toy." It's just TOO BRIGHT.But these lasers are excellent for other purposes. Any long distance high intensity "indicating" function (like my aforementioned architectural lecturing use) will work marvelously with this.Only buy this if you have a need for a very high intensity laser pointer... not for use as a pet toy... but if you do have that need, you can trust that this will be ideal for your purposes.Oh, and by the way, I strongly prefer rechargable ones like this. Plugging it into a USB (A-style) port to charge is far, far preferable to having to swap out disposable batteries!

A tad bigger than expected
It's big. The switch is a momentary switch so you can't make it stay on. The Laser is very bright and powerful considering the price. No doubt your kitten will love chasing it, just don't burn out it's eyes!Simple to charge, just stick it into a USB A port. The charging light on mine is next to the button/switch and is the smallest LED I think I have ever seen. When plugged into my laptop, it points down and is not visible. All in all, Yes, excellent laser. Just not all that well engineered as a product. Does the job, rechargeable, but limited practicality because of the poor switch choice, and the need to screw off the endcap to charge it. Yeah, you'll lose it eventually...

Worth the Price
This laser pointer was purchased to use with my cats and my dog. I previously had 2 laser lights that used a rechargeable battery that decided to not charge anymore and I looked at this due to the price of it compared to the price of new batteries. This light is well worth the money that is spent. It has a strong beam that can be used outside during the daylight. My favorite part is that it is USB chargeable. This makes it easy to just plug in and charge instead of removing a battery to charge. All of my pets are enjoying it. It comes with a tip that makes the light multiple creating a pretty cool scene that is fun to play with, but I use it mostly with the tip removed and only a single beam. I would recommend this product if you are looking for a simple laser light.

Great for playing with our cats.
I bought it to use for playing with our cats, had gotten tired of the batteries going dead in the cheap cat toy lasers.Love that we can charge it up by connecting it to a USB charger, and the battery lasts a long time. And it is a bright laser so the cats and I can see it easily. The only negative I can think of is when playing with the cats for a long time it would be nice to have an on/off switch instead of having to hold the button down.

Bad cheap product
Does not work at all charged turned on and shut off right away and now don’t turn on at all fully charged

Works as Intended
This item works as intended, and it is very helpful that the device has an internal battery rechargeable via the ubiquitous USB type plug. Most phone charging adapters these days have the same USB plug, or you can use a computer to charge it. The laser is bright and at least at the distance I tested (50-60ft), the laser beam is tight in form and doesn't expand to a larger dot. So, it works as intended and meets the need. But if you prefer a laser with maximum visibility in daylight, use a green laser instead of red.

Wonderful as a cat toy!
We are avid cat people. (We have 6 cats.) These are very good quality lasers, and our cats have an absolute blast with them. The rechargeable function is a time and money saver!
