Well made, nice price!
Bought this as a gift to my son who needed a stronger machine for making Civil War reenactment uniforms. He's been very happy with the quality and finds it so easy to operate. Great value for the money, Highly recommend it!

Good product
Worked on a Field Jacket that a Brothers would not. Easier to thread for a beginner too.

Great sewing machine..Glad I bought it
I've had the same sewing machine since 1981. It had started to sew poorly and I stopped sewing because of it. Too much trouble. Then I got motivated, had it serviced for $85 and started a project...which that machine destroyed. The service was not successful after all. I was going to take it back to the service guy, but looked at Singer machines on Amazon. Couldn't believe you can buy a new machine for just over 100 bucks. So I decided to donate my poor old Kenmore and buy a new Singer Heavy Duty 4432 Machine for a reasonable $143. I am so glad I bought this machine. This thing runs like a dream. It's quiet, it sews smoothly, cleanly, easily. I tried it on several fabrics so far: some fine stretchy nylon, cotton, rayon, fleece and jeans. It's a pleasure to sew with. I do simple sewing and altering, but this thing made those tasks a cinch. The dials are easy to use and understand without having to read the whole manual. I didn't want a complicated machine and this one fits the bill. I was most impressed by the bobbin in the top of the sewing plate, with the clear lid. Maybe this has been around for years, but my old machine by another maker had the bobbin underneath where it was awkward to put the bobbin in. The Singer bobbin drops in easily and with the clear door and clear bobbin you can see when your bobbin thread is about to run out! Ingenious. The other crazy thing is the mechanism that threads the needle for you. I can't see to thread needles anymore, but this contraption looked ridiculous. However, I tried it and voilà, it works!! How clever. This machine is also very lightweight and it fits in the case I had for my old machine. I'm enjoying sewing again!

When purchased on Amazon
These machines are mass produced and the machines well oiled gears dry up and get gummy. I've purchased 6 machines in the last 15 years. 5 Singer brand and one Viking. I say 5 Singer but I returned 2 due to damage from Amazon shipping. My first Singer was so long ago and $75 on black Friday at JoAnn Fabrics. It was great for sewing 1 cosplay each month for 4 years. My husband gifted me a husquva Viking H class E20 from Robert Sewing Center, it was great for 3 dresses and a costume each month for 6 years with 4 cleaning and oiling services. I needed an upgrade a this point and a second machine since I didn't like waiting inbetween servicing (2-3 week wait- I did get it back once within a week it was so busy with work, I couldn't pick it up for another week and a half). I got my second Singer | Heavy Duty 4432 Sewing Machine, purchased on Amazon, in April 2017. It was a work horse and I loved it. I had it serviced by Robert Sewing Center and Friends and Family Vaccumm Center. I tried patching a thick fleece blanket my rabbits tore through and something in the machine snapped half way through when I looked away, I was going to take it in but at this point I thought it would be a good idea to get a newer model as it would be the same price to take it in and have it fixed. My third Singer Heavy Duty 4452 Sewing Machine, purchased on Amazon, in June 21 2019, worked like a dream for 3 months. I had a baby and made a new baby outfit every week. I thought it could handle light weight baby clothes. ... The box was damaged when I got it but didn't feel like returning it asap if it worked. The reverse was jammed end of October 2019. The cost to fix it was more than the machine so I contacted Singer and Amazon and had it returned to Amazon- restocking fee. I have a long rant about that and how rebates work but that is for another post. I then purchased SINGER | Heavy Duty 4423 Sewing Machine, my 4th Singer via Amazon on November 2019. At this point, I am now a stay at home mom and wanted to use the Amazon credit I had left from the 1st return. The box was scruffed up and the styrofoam came out in a pieces. I tested it out to see if it was worth replacing with the same item and it worked well enough. I think it was dropped because after sewing two baby outfits, there was a rattling. So i had it replaced the following week. My replacement SINGER | Heavy Duty 4423 Sewing Machine was not damaged upon arrival and worked like a dream. However, once looking in the bobbin case, I saw that there were chunks of linty old oil that were rubbery and ... It was just chunky bits mixed with not that much lint. Almost looked like I put it through a year worth of sewing without a cleaning. I purchased some singer oil and cleaned it up. I didn't want to return it and get another machine with gummy oil. Last week (month into sewing a dress shirt, two PJ pants) a dress I was making out of lightweight jersey knit was sucked into the machine (my fault) and knocked the timing out of wack. Which btw, is annoying to fix, need metric Allen key wrenches, not USA inch ones, to get to the bottom of this singer. Size 2.5mm key wrench. Becareful not to strip the screw. Had to run to Home Depot to purchase new 5mmx 5mm set screw socket crown bolt. Video how to fix timing: https://youtu.be/-QFd7eC-1LI My husband has asked if I was the common problem with all the trouble with each machine but they were all different problems and with the internet and handbook. I am a wiz at trouble shooting and caring for my sewing machine and am quick to admit it was my fault (like when the tension and stich issues, those I can fix as I go). I am thinking for my next machine, I will have to go to a Singer store to purchase a singer machine so the warranty is wroth it. It just going to suck to have to go back to that store if any issues come up. The closest one is an hour away and in the city with parking... A baby. It's just not ideal. I hope this review is helpful... I like SINGER, was thinking of Husqvarna Viking or even Brother has good reviews but I am 5 deep with Singer and know most of their machine issues and their fixes. Hate to have to adapt it to another type of manufacturer.

Helpful sewing machine for reenactments
Ever since I gave this to my son for making Civil War uniforms, he's been quite pleased. The machine feels sturdy and is simple for him to use, which makes his sewing projects much easier. It offers good value when considering the price and performs well during his costume creations. Glad I chose this one for him.

First defect found before turning machine on. And WARNING: this uses only SINGER needles, can't use Schmetz!
After I put the machine on the table I was SHOCKED to find that this "heavy duty" machine uses thin needles made just for SINGER machines. So I can't use any of my special thread/fabric Schmetz needles I can use with my other sewing machines, sergers and overlocks machines that I have or share with friends. I had to wait 2 days for amazon to ship size 16 and 18 Singer needles before I could proceed to test "heavy duty" sewing with this, I think it comes with size 11 needles. Next, looking at the dials I was SHOCKED to see the needle positioning dial had only three choices, left, right and center. I have used sewing machines for 40+ years and I have NEVER seen a zig-zag sewing machine before where the needle position was limited like this. Then trying to move the needle left and right DID NOT WORK, it only moved the needle way left and 1/2 way between center and left. But I thought before returning it, at least I would test how well it handles my heavy duty projects and how well the stitches turn out. Finally got the heavy duty needles. The machine actually made perfect seams for the limited time I tested it. I did not test button holes or all the stitches but what I tried worked out really well. The machine was speeding over thick fabric stacks (thick terry towels, fleece) using my favorite 3-step zig-zag stitch set max wide - I use that as a quilting method when there is no need for any pretty designs. That was the primary reason I wanted this low cost machine, not to wear out my more expensive quilting machine for simple projects. Then I wanted to test top stitching using #69 nylon thread. SHOCKED again because now after 30 minutes of sewing other than straight-stitch, the needle position could no longer be changed. So if I end up replacing this unit with a new unit I will try to avoid moving the needle position at all. The dial is not very easy to move, and it does not seem to have a solid gear behind it, seems like it would wear out very easily. It's louder than any other sewing machine I have ever used and sounds like it could use oil somewhere. Pros: it's very sturdy and did not vibrate. The light is good. I love the easy to use bobbin cover and looks like the metal face plate should also be easy to open/close for maintenance. By the way, many Brother sewing machines (e.g CS6000i) have an absolutely horrible metal/plastic face plate system, way too frustrating to clean the base, and Brother's flimsy plastic cover right in front of the foot keeps me from pressing down on a bulky corner for better results - I donated my CS600i. I got this machine on a PRIME DAY deal and now I'm wondering if I should return it or replace it. If I replace it I'll update with review of the new unit. I'll use this one more before returning it to see if something else fails. CUSTOMER SUPPORT on the web states call M-F 8am-8PM. I called, the voice said they had "changed their service hours to M-F 8am-8pm", then another voice said they "close at 4PM CT ...call when they are open".... . So all that makes me wonder if Singer has anyone who knows what they are doing, no quality control?? Made in China. I wanted to find out more about warranty and service under warranty, but failed to get any info Fri 2pm calling from Arizona.

Amazing Power and Reliability!
I absolutely love my Singer Heavy Duty 4432! It’s a powerful and reliable machine that handles thick fabrics like denim and canvas with ease. The motor is strong and fast, yet the machine runs smoothly and isn’t too loud. I’ve sewn everything from tote bags to clothing, and it hasn’t let me down once. Threading is simple, the automatic needle threader is super helpful, and the stitch options are just what I need for both basic and creative projects. I also appreciate the metal frame—it feels sturdy and built to last. Whether you’re a beginner or more experienced, this machine is a great investment. Highly recommended!
