5 MINUTES AND SOME EPOXY
(*I TOLD EVERYONE WHAT TO DO AND PEOPLE ARE STILL POSTING COMPLAINTS THAT IT BECOMES LOOSE! GO FIGURE! 😂*) The only reason I gave it 5 stars is because of the price, otherwise it would have been 2 stars! Here is the situation, after a while "BOTH " balls comes loose off its pedestal because they aren't one molded piece. When you first get the item turn the pieces over and remove the silver machined screw with an allen key(BOTH BALLS). The next step is take some 2 ton epoxy(hardware store) and apply liberally into the threaded brass insert(in the ball) and on the allen screw threads, also put some epoxy on where the parts interface. Now just reassemble everything "SUPER TIGHT" making sure the parts are perfectly flush(the interface of the parts is slightly "keyed" make sure you are lined up right!) Once the epoxy cures the pieces will NEVER come loose again! The overall build quality and "fit n' finish" of this item is VERY GOOD for the price. I agree you shouldn't have to do this but considering what real "RAM MOUNTS" cost, the investment of 5 minutes and $5 worth of epoxy is MORE than worth it, trust me brand name is nice, but you will save $50-$100 glueing them up quick and buying this "knock off" mount!! **THE BALL IS 1.8" HOWEVER THE CLAMP WILL TIGHTEN PERFECTLY ONTO A 1.5" BALL ALSO! THIS MOUNT FIT MY HUMMINGBIRD HELIX 7 PERFECTLY! I ALSO HAVE ONE ON MY HELIX 5 BUT IT REQUIRED DRILLING 2 ADDITIONAL HOLES(SUPER EASY!) IN DEFENSE OF THE PRODUCT, I WOULD NOT EXPECT IT TO FIT EVERY SINGLE DEVICE ON THE MARKET PERFECTLY!

Exactly what I was looking for
This mount was perfect for my Garmin vivid 9sv! Was exactly what I was looking for and feels sturdy and built well. Highly recommend

Works well for my needs.
I bought two of these for my boat. They are versatile and secure except for how the base and lower ball are mounted together. There is an Allen-head bolt that works loose. I remedied the problem by using Lock-Tight.

Not stable
Mounted it to my boat and it seemed like it would come off in a hard wind so I took it off and mounted my fish finder straight to the boat this thing was so unstable

I wouldn’t mount anything bigger then a Helix 7. I had my Helix 9 mounted to it and man did this thing fail it I was driving across the water.

Great mount for my fish finder.

Great mount. Holes didn't line up with my Helix 5 so I had to drill a couple new ones but not a big deal. Works great.

Solid for my Helix 5 and ok for the 7, but don't use it with anything bigger unless you enjoy stress. No matter how tight you make it, my Helix 10 shakes so bad while moving from spot to spot, I want to tie a rope around it in case it gets ripped out of the mount. For now, I just loosen it enough to rest on the deck while moving at full speed. Anything past 25-30mph will give you a heart attack, especially if it's over 1ft swells out there.

Decent quality and functionality compare to much more expensive name brands on the market. I have no complaints at all

First ride out in the boat and it's loose and rattling, about to break off at the base. Would not recommend.
