This is the best thing to have; there is no mess of bird food all over the place. I have 3 cages, and they all have one.

I can’t tell how sturdy it is with keeping the door open because it is just slightly resting on the plastic cube. The first package I got a defective hook, but I got a new one fairly quickly and this one seems to be working pretty good. The birds were skeptical at first, but they seem to get the hang of it after a day. It fits two parakeets at once. So far it has contained the mess which was my end goal. Only complaint is I wish it had a way to put food in easier.

I love this bird feeder because it saves me a ton of money in no wasted food! However I had to drill to China to get my birds to use it. :) I had just bought two new Parakeets from PetsMart so they were brand new birds. I mounted the feeder on the outside of their cage but they would not touch it. So the girl at PetsMart suggested I buy two tube feeders and mount them by the entrance of this feeder to see if they would then turn the corner and start using this feeder. I even bought some spray millet and laid it across the entrance to entice them into the feeder. They rejected this idea. FINALLY I took off the bottom of one of the new tube feeders and filled it with pellets and set this inside this feeder and then they started eating from this bottom part. Then I removed this bottom part and they FINNALY went into this feeder and started using it!!! Wow what a process to get my birds to use it!!!

I loved the difference this made in our lives as far as cleaning up after periods of eating. No doubt this was an excellent product for that purpose. However… Cleaning it is very difficult. My little bird not only sat on the perch to eat, but also stayed there frequently, which means lots of poops gathered underneath her. I’m thankful they were separated from the food, and I didn’t mind cleaning it regularly (as far as it was easier than sweeping the floor multiple times a day). But somebody needs to come up with a different kind of design that helps you clean out the food compartment and, in our case, the poop area.

The appearance is clean. I like that I can easily see if my cockatiel finished eating his seeds. He likes stepping into it to eat. It was super easy to assemble, my kid was able to do it on his own. Good value for the money because my cockatiel doesn’t spill the seeds all over the floor. The fit is perfect for the window of his large cage.
