Helps with dry mouth
I have used hard candy to deal with dry mouth caused by medication. More on that later. I LOVE the intensity of the flavors, especially the cherry, Apple, lemon, and raspberry. I'm sure others are just as intense, but I personally don't have experience with them. They do last quite a while if you don't chew them up. So that coating of your sour throat, dry throat and dry mouth effect of the candy does last pretty long as the candy dissolves fairly slowly. If you just suck on them without breaking them into smaller pieces, in my experience, they don't drive my sugar up much. But if you chew them up and suck on all those little pieces, you can count on both dental police and blood sugar cops to come out with a penalty of some type to treat the big bump up in your blood sugar!! Here is more detailed info on how these affect blood sugar. Now that I have been diagnosed as diabetic, my sugar levels are carefully watched. Surprisingly these DON'T make my sugar go UP over much at all if you just suck on them. If you chew them up and suck on all those small pieces (have significantly increased the surface area of the candy by making all those pieces, allowing the candy to now release a lot of sugar) my blood sugar CLIMBS RAPIDILY and drops quickly. But if you just allow the whole candy piece to slowly dissolve and coat your throat, that dry cough will get better and your dry mouth will be much better. You can deal with the dry mouth, the sore throat, and that tickleish cough!! Once it's all dissolved and gone it's affects will remain a little while. You can rinse your mouth to get the sugar coating off your teeth rinse n spit or rinse n swallow, choice is yours!!

Pretty neat candy
Final Edit 3-23: got cherry and lemon and they're pretty delicious too. I probably won't be trying the other flavors so this is likely my final edit. After mulling it over a bit, my final ranking is something like this, but I would easily recommend anything above the root beer flavor, and even that is only because I'm not a fan of licorice flavor:raspberry > apple = watermelon > lemon > cherry >> root beer >> horehoundEdit 3-15: got watermelon and green apple in today. First, I tried green apple and was pleasantly surprised. I expected it to be super sour like most green apple candies, but it's just slightly tart and gives a pleasant sweet apple taste instead. I think I still like raspberry the most, but green apple pulls a surprise close 2nd! Watermelon is closer to what I expect it to taste like and is delicious but is slightly more sour than the apple. With so many good flavors, the top 3 pulls quite a bit ahead of the last 2. Current ranking is raspberry > apple > watermelon >>> root beer >> horehoundEdit 3-13: I tried the horehound one today and do not like it. I'm a fan of herbal teas but this is not it for me unfortunately. Current ranking is raspberry >> root beer >> horehoundRan into these when I was looking for root beer barrel candies and thought I'd give them a try since it's a good price. I also bought a package of the raspberry ones since I never seen raspberry drops before. Well, these are pretty good, but the root beer one in particular taste kinda like licorice? I'm not the biggest fan of licorice to be honest and felt that the classic root beer barrel candy is better than these if you want root beer in candy form, although the candy is still overall good, just not my first choice. That said, the raspberry one is amazing! I'll be trying out some of the other flavors and report back if I find any that I like better than the raspberry

Childhood memories
Every time my family went camping in the Smokies, we would stop in the little town at the base of the Smokie Mountains in Tennessee. My dad would by me this special candy, the name stuck in my head and the taste is great. I also feel this candy had an effect on my 5.7 mmol/L last physical.

Real lemon flavor.
I like to have little sweets on hand when my grandkids are here. These lemon drops ( and their other flavors) are the perfect treat and they ( and I) love them.
