It worked immediately, no connection issues. However, the sound and video were not in sync. The sound was like a half-second behind the video. But there is a very straightforward fix for that in OBS Studio!In the OBS audio mixer, if you click the gear icon in the Audio Mixer for the Advanced Audio Properties, and set the Sync Offset for the Desktop Audio to -600 ms. This doesn't affect it when you're watching the video stream, but it does fix it in the output file! :-)I didn't get super exact on that -600 number. It seemed pretty good after a few times of tweaking a short video that had some clapping in it. There are YouTube videos that explain how to count the frames in a good video editor and calculate the exact offset. But -600 was good enough for my box of old family videos. ;-)

I was able to transfer a 8mm hi to my computer and make a mp4. That will play directly from my tv set. Used software that was recommended in directions. But the audio part I had to use a different usb when what was the default. Then press open screen. Told a few hours to figure that out. So I wrote it down what was compatible with my computer system. I was able to do it a second time with no problems. I recommend not changing anything with the computer sound software. It the sound on the computer works don’t mess with it. Only change the settings on the video audio program that you downloadThis will copy your home movies over. It doesn’t have a way to copy. Copyright material over.

I got this to stream some N64 and Laserdisc. It does work just fine in OBS. Picture quality is OK. I'd say it almost looks like a VHS even with S-Video input. A professional unit would be much better, but if you are trying to play around or backup some home videos this is probably more than enough for your needs.Beware that the sound card on this will downmix everything to mono. If you look in the OS it will always show it has 1 channel. This was disappointing as I've had to get a separate USB sound card just for the input. But for how cheap this is not the worst thing ever. Home movies are going to be mono, but streaming games, etc. you're going to want stereo.

I wish I had ordered sooner. I had an old home made dvd of a musical performance that my brother gave me years ago and I wanted to extract some of the songs and post to YouTube for family members. I had a pc with an old turtle beach video capture card and spent a month trying to get the software reinstalled when I finally gave in and did a search on Amazon. Once I had this device plugged into my Mac and my dvd player the rest was simple and it worked flawlessly. I highly recommend this product.

Bought this for much less $ than other products in order to copy older camcorder videos to digital.I was doubtful it would work only because the price is a small fraction of the price of other products that I was considering but took the chance anyway.Make sure to download the software that it tells you to in the instructions and watch a few videos on YT etc. to avoid frustration.I am not a techy person but figured this out relatively easily.

Did what I needed it to. I hooked it up to OBS and recorded VHS videos directly from a vhs unit I got from good will. Able to save videos to files on my computer from memories of my family. This is priceless thank you so much means more then you know.

Got a dud, could not return without original bag it came in. Green light never came on plugged into usb, tested multiple ports with and without extension.

I needed a simple way to digitize old Hi8 videos for my parents, and this capture card did the trick! Hooking up my video camera with RCA cables was a breeze, and it worked seamlessly with my older Mac laptop via USB.
