Ottolenghi's Mediterranean Island Feasts [DVD]

First time I've watched the chef and thought he came over really personable, well explained recipes and good background to the countries shown.

I originally recorded this onto my PVR off air when it was broadcast on More4, and ordered this DVD as I wanted to keep the programme, but also needed to free space on my PVR.Ottolenghi is an engaging and enthusiastic food tourist through Corsica, Mallorca, Crete and Sardinia, but he's let down by the technical quality of this DVD. The sound is very dull compared to my off-air recording, and the picture is distinctly inferior. (My recording is just standard freeview, not HD, by the way.)At least I don't have to fast forward past adverts on this DVD.I bought this off the Amazon marketplace. It wasn't cheap (£17.22), and I feel slightly ripped off. You do wonder if this might be a pirate copy, but without another to compare it against, it's impossible to tell.

Ottolenghi has a good sense of humour whilst being an excellent chef. He appreciates the people and their skills and is not scared to accept that he is not necessarily as proficient in some areas such a bread baking which the older ladies of the villages have been doing for many years.

It's a feast of colours, stunning places, exquisite landscapes and delicious recipes. Even if you're not much fond of cooking, it's worth while. However, if you're addicted to cooking like me, you'll enjoy it most. Ottolenghi is really good at combining flavours and ingredients to achieve great food. It's a pity this dvd contains only four episodes. It could also show his travels to Tunisia, Turkey, Israel and Morocco as seen on TV.

The first two episodes were great , but the second two episodes would not play ( I tried a different DVD player with the same result ) .I returned the faulty DVD to Amazon who sent a replacement , the replacement also playef first two episodes then stopped . I have now returned the repalcement DVD and asked for my money back . Obviously there is a batch of faulty DVD s ,which is a pity as the series looked good .

Appears \ok but waiting for books to be reissued

Was watching these programms on Swiss TV and am happy to have found them in English. Ottolenghi rocks.
