Cheapest and the best of all of them!
Reminds me of my rice cooker. Perfect rice every time. Just turn it on and it does its thing and best of all, it was very inexpensive. I purchased this while waiting for a replacement for my larger 4 slice toaster that just died. I mean, how long can a normal person go without a proper toaster? Not long if you're me. This toaster was twenty bucks. The long and short of it is that this toaster makes better toast than the $150 one! Absolutely perfect on BOTH SIDES of the toast and Both slices equally browned. A new experience for me to be sure. You can't fit some of the fancy big ass sourdough slices in it (you have to cut them in half) but that's no biggie is it? I wind up cutting the in half anyway after I butter them! Run don't walk if you want the perfect little toaster. It's biggest feature is that it's SIMPLE and it works.

Nice toaster for the price
Cool toaster. I like the Bagel feature that allows you to toast one side of the bread. Also the Cancel feature that allows you to just push a button to stop toasting and pop back up without having to turn the dial. Maybe this is nothing new, but I haven't bought a toaster in 10 years, and I'm impressed.

Toaster works fine but slow
The price was right and it works well but it takes longer to toast anything. I noticed that the bagel mode works on this one. I never knew how it worked but this one is obvious. Just remember to face the cut sides outward if you like the inside toasted and the outside not toasted. It looks good, the settings work well, the only thing I have a problem with is the time it takes to toast anything.

You could spend more money but your not gonna get a better toaster !! It rocks !!!
This is a great toaster wide bread carriages, bagels and artisan breads fit fine. It has all the buttons for what one needs to make good toast and i love the bottom trays that open for easy cleaning. The power cord is long enough . its a very good toaster & The price is right

'Old School' Like mamma used to have. Well, with more plastic. Upside, it's lighter than mammas.
It's exactly what I wanted. No AI, no computer, no LCD, it won't 'phone home' to China or India, and it won't turn on randomly during a Teams meeting if I say something about toast. To use it, I push the mechanical lever down with bread and it pops back up as toast. I started with a setting of 3 (from 1-6) and it took about 2 minutes to toast to 'level 3'. It wasn't brown at all, but definitely toasted. That's not a flaw, it's just a 3. I'll try notching it up to 4,5 and if necessary 6. I only toast every other day due to (self imposed) carb restrictions. I use this to toast two pieces of thawed bread, then one goes in a bag. I eat the fresh toast with lunch, the next day I eat the bag toast with lunch. I figure this lowers my 'cost per toast' by half. At this rate it'll take me about a week to test up to setting 6 but I'm sure it'll work for what for me. The otaster has an easy access 'crumb tray' in the back at the bottom. There's also a little raceway underneath to wind the cord if you want it shorter. It has frozen and bagel buttons I'll never use (and so haven't tested). During toasting the on light looks like it doubles as a 'cancel' button in case you want to stop early (I didn't). I do cut my bread thicker than the store stuff though, and it toasted fine. Regarding my amateur photography, the browning on the top of the toast is cinnemon which I rub on before baking since I don't use any sugar (it makes it more palatable for me). The sides obviously aren't brown like I said (due to the low 3 setting) but it was firm to the touch, and butter applied readily. It had a crunch texture that I'd expect from toast. My update for setting 5 is that it's crunchy and lightly brown, I won't need to go any higher than that. It took about three minutes to toast. I'm still happy with the purchase.

Has Design Flaw, But Otherwise It Toasts
When it works; it works well. For those who say it stopped staying down, keep reading. I used this toaster maybe six times before it stopped holding down. I stopped using it for a bit and then decided to take it apart to see what I can do. Turns out, the metal plate the electromagnet grabs, is either about 0.5-1mm too small, or the tabs that hold it are too long. After bouncing up when the toast is done, there's a chance it falls back over the pivot and slips out under the hold tabs. This makes the plate unable to sit level and attach to the magnet to hold the bread carriage down. I've attached images of the problem. A quick fix; you can attempt to pick up the toaster, lean it back, and shake it to make the metal plate fall back into position. Otherwise, a more permanent fix is to disassemble the toaster, and very, very gently fold the tabs down so they wrap under the plate a little and prevent it from shaking out of position. This requires a triangle bit, there's five screws on the bottom. Also pulling the handle off the front is difficult, but doable. Just make an even, hard pull. There's a single cable going to the controls on the front with a push-down lock. Remove that and take the top off the toaster, then push the tabs down as in my images. tl;dr Design flaw, shake the toaster to fix temporarily. Otherwise, decent toaster.

A Great Toaster If Treated Well
I purchased this toaster slightly over 3 months ago. I had reviewed all of the ratings prior to the purchase and was cautious. I'm here to tell you that this toaster works like a charm. Although it does toast slightly unevenly, the toasted bread has all the attributes of toasted bread other than looks. I treat it with living care (I don't beat it up) and it works perfectly. I highly recommend it. It does the job.

This toaster works really well. It does a great job of toasting the whole slice of bread. Our previous Krupp toaster would always leave untoasted areas around the edges. I like that it does not burn the toasts on consecutive uses which was a big problem with our previous toaster. The bagel function also works well. I am always pleasantly surprised with Amazon Basics. Great value.

I’ve been using this Amazon Basics toaster for a while, and I’m really happy with it. It toasts bread evenly and works just as expected. Nothing fancy, but for the price it’s totally worth it - simple, reliable, and does the job well.
