Bristan K 1/2 C Colonial Basin Taps - Chrome

It does confuse my visitors as it did us at first but each tap turns a different way. However they look good, the quality is great and I will be buying a third set. Perhaps the odd feature I mention is the way taps work these days, who knows!

They look as good as in the photos and seem to be well-made. Only minor problem, which seems common to most/all modern taps, is that they aren't designed for older sanitary ware with square tap holes making centering and sealing the taps in the basin (and the matching mixer taps) difficult even with centering washers - about to have a second attempt at sealing the basin hot tap (with silicone), because, if it's operated with wet hands, odd drips work their way down the tap stem and the pipework making a damp patch on the timber floor (not a good idea!). UPDATE (10th May 2020). Silicone worked, but 18 months on we now have a serious problem: - the taps (matching bath and basin sets) are still under warranty. Water 'hammer' on the basin hot tap started about a month ago, no changes to the plumbing points the finger at that tap. Posted message on Bristan's site, automatic acknowledgement but otherwise no response after a fortnight. Bristan seem to have closed down completely at least for the duration of 'lock-down'. UPDATE (20/5/2020) Phone call from Bristan. Not closed down but only have a small number of people working during lock-down because of the need for social distancing. Despite an e-mail in confirming warranty registered, require proof of purchase again (easy enough, download the Amazon Invoice again). They will be sending me a pair of replacement valves (for me to fit under lock-down).

Delighted with my purchase! Perfect match for our bathroom furniture - sort of 'cottagey'! Fitted them myself using an 'adjustable basin wrench' (£5.99) One tip: the finish is more polished than the image appears - which you might think is slightly dull. Bit pricey but they look very smart!

Look beautiful and excellent quality

These taps are beautiful, classy and sturdy and look fabulous. We bought some for the bathroom and liked them so much we ordered a third pair for the en suite. They have made so much difference to our bathroom suite, we absolutely would recommend them to anybody if they wanted to upgrade their bathroom, gorgeous.

Bought these to replace a set of cheap basin taps who time had come for the scrap heap. Look good and work well in installed in a few minutes. Might look expensive compared with some but hopefully worth the money.

Bought these taps to replace a pair of identical 10 year old Chinese made ones where on the hot tap the chrome plating had gone very dull. New taps easily fitted with a special under-sink tap spanner. I swapped the tap-head retaining screws with the old ones which are brass, the new ones steel. As a previous reviewer stated I also unscrewed the tap body before installation and applied a little grease to ensure it is easy to remove in situ in the future if a washer needs changing. Very pleased, would use this supplier again.
