Impressive 1 Gal Fermemeter Set
I am very impressed for the price. Set was shipped in thick foam top and bottom with thinner foam wrapping in the middle, but enough air between the box and the glass to be pretty safe. My kit included: 2 wide mouth fermenter bottles 2 heavy duty lids 4 silicone lid gaskets 4 silicone airlock grommets with tethered stoppers 3 three-piece airlocks 2 cute wooden "chalk" boards with twine 1 white marker (erasable? Haven't tried it) Bottles are think glass with a punt bottom, so lees will be deeper around the outside and more shallow in the middle. The liquid scale on the bottle is only useful for less than a gallon, but may be useful occasionally. Not sure about accuracy, though. The lids are very sturdy and seal tight with the gaskets. They will not buckle from pressure, and should not crack easily as they are have enough flex to withstand some abuse. The airlocks are standard, large size three piece locks, for 8mm stopper/lid holes. I have bought high end Italian glass carboys from brew supply stores that came with nothing except a flimsy box. This set of 2 complete fermenters with extra parts cost about the same as a single 1 gallon Italian carboy that I have. And, the quality seems pretty equal. The only thing that could end up bringing down my rating would be if replacement gaskets and grommets cannot be found. Time will tell if they retain any aromas/flavours that could potentially affect subsequent ferments. The grommets could probably be replaced with standard bucket grommets, but the lid gaskets could be difficult to find alternatives for. Other than that, these 1 gal fermenters are perfect for small batches, or for racking larger batches down to 1 gallon secondaries.

Meets all requirements and great quality
Very pleased with the product I received. So well packaged and parts secured. I was aware that it had the hole up top for fermentation but not that it also had a rubber stopper in case you wanted to use it for something else. I was pleasantly surprised. I plan to try water glassing eggs after I ferment and I am happy to see this will allow that versatility without having to buy so many glass containers. The size size is bigger than I expected which also exceeded my expectations.

Beyond Satisfied
I have purchased this set twice now because they work so well. I have been brewing my own kombucha in these for a year now, and they are like new. These are high-quality, thick, durable glass and handle a gallon of liquid. I have a batch brewing in primary in one jar, and another in secondary fermentation in the other jar. The airlocks are slick; I'm watching it bubble as I type. They clean up so easily, too. The only knock against the set would be the chalkboards; while cute and handy, the actual chalkboard part doesn't release writing easily so there are a lot of ghosted images. But really, you can pick up one of those anywhere, and it had no factor in my choosing this set. When I decided to brew at a higher capacity, it was a no-brainer to select this economical workhorse again.

Quality fermentor
These are nice quality 1gallon fermenting jars. They work great for fermenting chicken food and getting a much greater yield.

Chickens love it!
Our chickens absolutely love the fermented wheat that these jars help us to produce. It's a real treat to see them happily gobbling the wheat up.

Great For Brewing And Ferments.
This set of jars is exactly what you need if you enjoy brewing or ferments, I got these to make some Tepache and it's worked out wonderfully. The jars were packaged quite nicely packed with laser cut foam pieces layered in a thick cardboard box labeled "fragile". This set also comes with 3 airlocks, 2 sets of extra silicone seals and 2 reusable wooden lables and a white pen. Nothing was broken and everything has a satisfying fit and air tight seal. I'm not a big fan of airlocks they work but feel like the cheepest part of the kit, the glass however is thick and the lids are sturdy. I feel like this kit will make many delicious drinks in it's future, if any problems arise I will update as they occur. Pro tip: Make sure you give these jars a good hot wash and dry before you start your fermentations, try not to pour boiling water directly in to these jars when at room temp or cold as they may crack, instead slowly bring their temp up with hotter and hotter water. Ginger bug recipe if you need one: Add 1 cup of distilled water to a jar with a pice of chopped washed skin on ginger the size of your thumb (20g) and 2Tbsp of sugar. Repeat for 2 days then leave the mix alone on the 3rd day. Feed as mentioned above for 2 more days and you should have a nice active bug to use by the 5th day.

Fermentation jars
Fermentation jars work great! Gas release valve is easy to use and no unscrewing the lid to release the gas.

Highly recommend these for large fermentation jobs
If you want to ferment lemons for Mediterranean recipes and then put them in ball jars and give the lemon zest that's fermented away. These are the jars for you. They're very large and if you're going to ferment cabbage or something like that, you need to know you're going to have enough cabbage for two families. These are very well made. The storage capacity is large, the glass is thick and the design is great. Great! Makes it really easy to use. It's an all-in-one!
