I bought these for myself so I could try out a new medium. When I last used oil pastels (over 50 years ago in grade school) I really hated them. Well, these are a much higher quality, much softer and easier to blend. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to try a reasonable representation of this art material without spending the "big bucks" on the French ones. I'll probably get those eventually, but these are a great starting product with a nice color range.
