Got a good deal on this during pre-holiday sales so I bought one for my BFF & one for myself. I was intrigued by the sliding "volume control" feature & surprisingly, it actually does work. I wouldn't call the tone exactly deep tone but it's definitely not a tinny or tinkling sound...more of a mid range & "rounded" tone not a cheap clanking noise. The sound of these chimes shouldn't upset your neighbors... BUT if that's really your goal then don't buy this brand. The materials seem to be good quality and the finish was smooth & very pleasant to look at. It arrived neatly packaged in a box... not just tossed in a plastic bag in a jumbled mess of tubes & strings like so many other chimes I've purchased in the past. I didn't feel like I was wrestling multiple tangled strings of Xmas lights or a jumbled mass of clothes hangers... if you know what I mean?! Anyway, these are definitely pleasing to eyes & ears. My BFF & I are both pleased & looking forward to hearing our new chimes while we sip tall iced teas & chill on our screened porches this summer.

I love them! They are the perfect size to replace our 20 year old chimes that have been self destructing over the last few months and the sound is clear and clean. We had a high wind day after I hung the up and they sounded great, plus they look great too. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
